We recently connected with Samantha Zo and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
Deciding to start my own creative agency was a risky move, but one that I knew I had to take. I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something more out there for me, and I was determined to follow my passion for entrepreneurship and creativity. Despite the challenges, I knew that the rewards would be worth it.
As I transitioned to part-time at my full-time job (at a creative agency for CPG brands) and focused on building my own business, I faced many challenges. As a mom, I was worried about the financial risks I was taking, and there were times when I questioned whether I had made the right decision. But I persevered, and with the help of some amazing women who had already established themselves as entrepreneurs, I was able to build a network and stabilize my finances.
The process of growing my business was rewarding in so many ways. I learned new skills (and still learning), I met new people, and I found a sense of fulfillment that I had never experienced before. And in the end, all of my hard work paid off. I was able to officially quit my day job and focus on my own business full-time, and I felt grateful and fulfilled in a way that I never had before. While running my own business comes with its fair share of risks, like losing a client or not making enough money, I have found that the journey has been incredibly rewarding. The experience has helped me grow as a woman in so many ways, and the challenges I have faced have only made me stronger and more resilient. Despite the risks, I believe that the journey is worth it, and I am grateful for the amazing experiences and personal growth that it has brought me.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Hey there! I’m Sam Zo, and I am the founder of a creative agency based in Austin, Texas. I am currently in the process of rebranding from Sam Zo & Co to BTWN WRLDS to better fit my agency’s mission.
I specialize in providing marketing services to small businesses and web3 brands with a focus on community building. I got into my industry through a combination of my passion for creativity and my desire to make a positive impact in the world. I started my career working for a creative agency that specialized in food and beverage brands, and while I enjoyed the work, I found that I really wanted to apply my skills to help small business owners and web3 brands grow on social media.
What sets me apart is my unique position at the intersection of Web2 and Web3. I have experience in traditional marketing and branding for Web2 brands, but I also have the knowledge and expertise to help those brands transition into the world of Web3. Additionally, I am able to support web3 brands in building out their creative strategy on social media.
I provide a range of services to my clients, including branding, social media strategy, graphic design, and community management. My main focus is on helping my clients connect with their audiences by building a strong brand presence through creative elements and storytelling, and challenging them to think about the future of social media.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Imposter syndrome can be a powerful force that prevents us from becoming our true selves. For many years, I struggled with this internal battle, feeling like I wasn’t good enough no matter how hard I worked or how much I achieved.
I remember back to my grade school days, when I was incredibly competitive and desperate for approval. I placed such high standards on myself that it became a source of stress and anxiety as an adult. I was afraid that people would see me as just another marketer, or that another agency was better than me. I was afraid that people wouldn’t accept the work I did, or that they would complain that I wasn’t good enough.
But eventually, I started to practice self-compassion. I began to let go of self-doubt and trust myself and the process. Surrounding myself with amazing, resilient women who also struggled with imposter syndrome was also incredibly healing for me. I felt less alone and more empowered to be my best self, no matter what others might think.
Over time, I have learned that imposter syndrome is something that we all struggle with at some point in our lives. But by practicing self-compassion and surrounding ourselves with supportive people, we can overcome it and become the confident, authentic individuals/entrepenuers we are meant to be.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I’m currently in the process of pivoting my business focus. When I first started my agency, I took on whatever clients would give me work. While this was a great way to gain experience and build my skills, I realized that I wanted to be more intentional about the work I do and the clients I work with.
As a result, I am rebranding from Sam Zo & Co to BTWN WRLDS. With this new name, I am able to work with community-centered brands in both web2 and web3 spaces. My goal is to support brands that are focused on making a positive impact in their communities, no matter where they are in the digital world.
This pivot has come with its own set of challenges, including the need to redesign my branding and website to reflect my new focus. However, I believe that by being more intentional about my work and my clients, I can create deeper connections and have a greater impact.
