We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Samantha Sumpter. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Samantha below.
Alright, Samantha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
Being a personal trainer is so rewarding. I get to assist my clients with their wellness goals, reignite their confidence while encouraging them to be their best self. I enjoy when they share non-scale victories and testimonials during their journey. However, being fairly new in the industry, I sometimes am faced with imposter syndrome. My clients always seem to know when and what to say when I need it the most.
One defining moment for me being a personal trainer was a praise report from a client and her doctor. An underling health condition she had endured for several years is now more controlled and manageable. She has been a client for over 18 months and thanks me every chance she gets for encouraging her to prioritize her health.
Personal training is bigger that just weight loss..
Samantha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Health and wellness have been an intricate part of my life since 2013. I tell this story often but my start in personal training was birthed from my journey. After graduating college, I was stunned at how much weight I had gained. This propel me to make my health a priority and motivate others around me to do the same. I shared my experience on social media for years for accountability and motivation.
To assist women on a much larger scale, I became a personal trainer.
My services include one on one personal training, nutritional coaching, buddy training and weight management. Starting a health and wellness journey can be very overwhelming for some. GraceFitly, my business name, was created to remind clients to always show themselves grace in every area of their lives. One thing that sets me apart is my education in life coaching. I not only assist my clients with their physical goals but I also tap into their mental and emotional goals, within my scope.
I am most proud of how my new business was received in the community. The support was unmatched and I am truly grateful to be walking in my purpose. I enjoy helping women become the best version of themselves. I want potential clients to know it is never too late to prioritize your health. You deserve to be the best you. Your loved ones deserve you to be the best you.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Being personable is essential for success in my field. As a personal trainer, you will encounter different personalities, expectations and experiences from clients. It is imperative to build relationships with clients to better assist their needs.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Social media and word of mouth have been the most effective strategies for building clientele. I share snippets of my clients sessions, progress pictures and nutritional tips on social media to display more work and advertising.
Word of mouth is great for business. When you provide an amazing service or product, customers and clients love to share their experiences.
