We were lucky to catch up with Samantha Priddy recently and have shared our conversation below.
Samantha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
A Leap Into the Unknown: Starting My Med Spa
The moment I unlocked the door to my brand-new med spa, my heart raced with equal parts excitement and fear. For 14 years, I had built a career in nursing, a stable and predictable path. But now, as a nurse injector, I had taken the ultimate leap—opening my own med spa.
It was a risk. I didn’t have an existing clientele, no waiting list of patients eager to see me. I had left behind the security of a well-paying job and ventured into the uncertain world of entrepreneurship. Friends had called me brave. Family, supportive but cautious, had asked if I was sure. Truthfully, I wasn’t sure at all. But I had a vision, and that vision burned brighter than my doubts.
The space was small but perfect. A clean, modern aesthetic with soft neutral tones, calming lighting, and subtle hints of Arizona’s desert beauty—a nod to the place I’d always called home. I wanted people to feel cared for the moment they walked through the door.
But on that first day, the door didn’t open. I sat there organizing brochures and making gifts to hang on doors of surrounding businesses, joined every community Facebook group I could find, and poured my heart into social media posts. I was determined not to fail.
I have built this business through friends, family, referrals and stepping outside of my comfort zone. I often think, I didn’t go to school to be a business owner; I went to school to be a nurse, what am I doing? I’m reminded daily why I am here. I love helping others and this allows to me do so in another way. I get to help women and men feel their best every day and regain their confidence back. It’s such a beautiful gift to be a part of their journey.
Building this business has been exhausting. I work more hours than my nursing job, balancing patient treatments with networking events, community partnerships, and marketing efforts. I’ve connected with other small business owners, exchanging referrals and advice and I will be forever grateful for these friendships.
The med spa became more than just a business; it has become a space where I can combine my medical expertise with a personal touch. I’ve watched clients transform, not just physically but emotionally. They leave my med spa standing a little taller, smiling a little brighter.
Looking back now, I realize the risk I took wasn’t just about starting a business. It was about believing in myself—trusting that the skills and compassion I had honed over 14 years as a nurse would carry me through. And they did.
Taking that leap was terrifying, but it was worth it. Every struggle, every late night, every moment of doubt led to this beautiful journey.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Sam. I’m a wife, mom, and dog mom and Arizona native. I have been a nurse for over 14 years with most of my background in the operating room. I had found my love for nursing until I received my first botox injections. I was 36 and wanted to get rid of the lines between my brows. I fell in love the results and wanted more. Through some research, I learned that I could get trained and make people feel the same way I did, confident with my appearance. I opened my own med spa so I could choose the products I love and feel are the best for my patients. I would never recommend something I haven’t tried or won’t put in my own face. I believe in enhancing your natural beauty, not changing the way you look. I’m here to listen to your concerns and create the best plan that fits you.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
I think educating my patients and being honest when a treatment is not appropriate. I provide natural looking results. My patients don’t want to walk around looking like they had a bunch of work done. I don’t over treat and I’m not pushy.

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
I would definitely choose aesthetics again. I wish I would have chosen it sooner and not been so scared of it.
