We were lucky to catch up with Samantha Pointer recently and have shared our conversation below.
Samantha, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We love asking folks what they would do differently if they were starting today – how they would speed up the process, etc. We’d love to hear how you would set everything up if you were to start from step 1 today
If I was to start over from scratch today, one thing I would have done differently is to ask for help sooner. Trying to do it all on my own and not delegate a lot of things probably made me grow slower. I felt that no one could do it better than me or as good as me. So I took on a lot that I didn’t have to if I had asked for help sooner. I also would have gotten a mentor/accountability partner to keep me accountable on the things I said I was going to do and also to guide me in the unknown waters I was treading in at the time.
Now I know it is ok to ask for help and seek out mentors and build a team that supports you early on.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Samantha Pointer, owner of Samantha Pointer Enterprises and founder of Sam’s Tech Academy.
I help small business owners and CEOs stop drowning in manual work and finally build businesses that run smoother, faster, and more efficiently through the power of automation. Basically, I help you get your time back and your sanity, too.
Before I stepped into the automation world, I spent over 20 years as a professional organizer, helping people and businesses bring order to their physical and digital spaces. What I discovered in that journey is that most business owners aren’t struggling because they’re not working hard — they’re struggling because they don’t have clear, organized systems. And that’s where my love for organizing has really carried over. Now, I take those same skills and apply them to documenting processes and workflows before we ever automate a thing. Because you can’t automate chaos; you have to organize it first.
My own path into automation came from necessity. Life threw me some serious curveballs: I’ve navigated family emergencies, caretaking for my grandparents, going through divorce, health scares, and even experiencing homelessness while still running my business. Through it all, I realized that if I didn’t have systems and automation in place, my business wouldn’t survive. That’s when it clicked for me—automation isn’t just a luxury, it’s a lifeline.
So now, I bring that same mindset and strategy to my clients. I primarily work with small business owners who either don’t have systems at all or have stitched together a bunch of tools but still find themselves doing everything manually. I help them clean up their processes, figure out what’s actually working, and then we automate the parts that will save them the most time and energy.
My services include a Tech Audit, where I take a full inventory of their tech stack and processes to identify the gaps. I also offer VIP Days, where we focus on implementing one automation in a single day to get quick wins. And for clients who want full support, I offer From Audit to Automation™, where I take the reins and build out their automation ecosystem from start to finish.
What sets me apart is that I blend my background as a professional organizer with my expertise in automation. I don’t just focus on the tools — I make sure the foundation of your business is solid, your processes are documented, and the automation I build actually serves your goals. I explain things in plain English, meet you where you are, and make it all feel less overwhelming. Because I’ve lived through the chaos myself, I truly understand what it feels like to need a business that can run even when life doesn’t go as planned.
What I’m most proud of is seeing my clients go from feeling overwhelmed and behind to feeling in control and confident. It’s not just about saving time — it’s about giving them breathing room to focus on what matters most, whether that’s growing their business or just enjoying their life.
At the end of the day, I want people to know this: Your business & technology should work for you, not the other way around. Automation isn’t about replacing you; it’s about freeing you up to lead, grow, and live your life fully. And I’m here to help you do just that.
Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
When I initially started in business there was very few people doing what I did here in Nashville. As you can imagine getting funding was near impossible through normal means like banks, etc. Luckily I was still employed full-time which I would recommend to anyone starting a business. Keep your full-time gig to help fund your business. I was able to pay my basic needs while building my business. This allowed me to pour back into my business anything I made without worrying about how I was going to pay my rent or car note.
I only stepped out fully in the business when I was making more in my business than my full-time job.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
My best source of new clients have been word-of-mouth. Most of my newer clients have come through other clients recommending me, partnerships with other companies who have complimentary services and networking locally.
