We recently connected with Samantha Nielsen and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, thanks for joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
From a family of 6, my parents taught my sisters and me resilience and hard work. As a child, I was responsible for weekly chores which ranged from feeding the dog and cats to cleaning bathrooms and vacuuming the house. I got my first paying job at 11 years old teaching gymnastics at a local academy, which I absolutely loved. I loved teaching gymnastics from all the experience since starting at 6 years old.
My parents taught us that resilience and hard work are two main aspects of success. You will be successful if you never give up and give it your all.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Premier Pet TLC was born on few simple ideas. Our goal is to provide only the best pet care in an all-inclusive, transparent pricing model while giving back to Austin’s homeless pets. Our business was started with honesty, transparency and respect as the foundation. The birth of Premier Pet TLC was in memory of the six animal-loving friends and two pets of the owner’s that had passed in 2017. We strongly believe in doing what’s right by you, your pet, our team and our community.
Meet Samantha Nielsen, the owner of Premier Pet TLC. She was a full-time digital marketer through 2015 and made the choice to leave her role to pursue animal advocacy and pet care. She applied at Austin Pets Alive! for a part-time off-site cat adoption counselor position, which she got! Within a month of her hire, Samantha was promoted from part-time to full-time at Austin Pets Alive! where she was relocated to Townlake. She went on to work in emergency pet medicine, pet specialty and pet care.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Premier Pet TLC has Facebook and Instagram accounts. They were started at the very beginning to engage current clients and attract new ones. We focus on current pets in our TLC family on a weekly/monthly basis, wish those pets with birthdays a happy one and also providing educational information on pet safety. When first starting out on social media, be consistent with posting regularly and messaging.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
From the moment I interview a new member of our TLC family, I make sure they understand that in order to succeed in this role, you need to take care of oneself physically and emotionally. I always suggest taking a day off or two a week, this is a wonderful fulfilling opportunity, however, it’s very important to take care of yourself. It’s also important to let others know how much they mean to you regularly and always giving constructive feedback. I’ve had a many a bosses, and I strive to be the best. I treat others how I want to be treated, and everyone should be respected. We work as a tight knit family, our TLC family!
