We were lucky to catch up with Samantha Nash recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha , thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
What makes me unique in this industry is my global reach; I’m an International Realtor.
I believe in providing a more holistic approach to real estate. Here in Ontario, I am a member of two real estate boards, which facilitates my ability to properly represent clients across the province. With increased house prices in the GTA, there has been a huge influx of people migrating out of the city. I assist buyers from Niagara to Durham, Duffrin County to Toronto while many Realtors will only assist clients within their immediate area. In a situation where a client wishes to sell in Toronto and move to Niagara, they are often using 2 realtors, one for the sale and another for purchase. By assisting with the entire process, it provides a more seamless experience for the client.
Globally, I help buyers purchase Barbados, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and Costa Rica.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Getting into Real Estate was a natural transition for me. My father was in travel and tourism, managing, owning, and consulting other hoteliers throughout his career. By the age of 12, I had various “volunteer” types of jobs, working in his friend’s restaurants, greeting guests in the hotel lobby, and later on covering the front desk. So at a very young age, my father was grooming me in business management.
In my early 30s, I was working in corporate sales when my role was eliminated subsequent to a merger. Globally, I was the top salesperson in my role so when the position was deleted, I was shocked and heartbroken. They offered me another position along with a bunch of promises but I was miserable and things weren’t the same. I was a single mother, with 2 kids and no real savings yet I decided to leave the corporate world! My stepmother suggested I become a Realtor and I took her advice. I got a job waiting on tables at Kelsey’s while I worked on my Real Estate License. I earned my Ontario Real Estate License in 2005, within a year, I bought my 1st house, flipped it, and then bought my second house for the kids and me. I’m proud to say I’ve been in the business for 18 years now.
2018, I wanted to broaden my marketplace and assist Canadians with buying in the Caribbean. I took a couple of trips, did a lot of research, connected with the right people, and completed a course with the National Association of Realtors that earned me the designation of International Realtor.
I now assist Canadians in Barbados where I was born, the Dominican Republic where I’ve lived, along with Jamaica and Costa Rica. My international partners and I, host Home Buyer Webinars in each marketplace and can assist you with obtaining a mortgage if necessary.
We will guide you through the process from beginning to end!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I officially started my International division in 2018. During the process of building my team, I interviewed loads of realtors, took several business trips, and negotiated multiple agreements, the process took almost 2 years. I was actually in Barbados on business in January 2020 when I first heard about “Corona”. I joked and said that it wouldn’t affect me as I don’t drink beer but it certainly did. It affected me tremendously, as it did most people. I put the breaks on everything overseas.
In 2022, once I could see the world was getting back to normal I began to reestablish the International portion of my business. It wasn’t easy but I was determined not to give up. I remember I set a goal, that by the end of the year I would be offering Home Buyer Webinars for each country and closing deals abroad, and we did!
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me is referrals, word of mouth, and Google Ads.
