We were lucky to catch up with Samantha Marrero recently and have shared our conversation below.
Samantha , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Success is not something that is achieved once in your life. Or a sole thing that you chase at and relax after you’re done getting it. I mean you do relax, but that’s not the end goal.
When I started my business in the beauty industry as a professional artist in hair braiding- I knew that “the road to success” wouldn’t be easy. In fact it’s a road that’s never had an end. You learn along the way that it stops becoming about the one thing you are a master at; to finding out new purposes and meanings to yourself and your business. Therefore, as you travel this road to success, you tend to fall in love with the fact of constantly finding new obstacles and motives along the way. A person that aspires to be successful is a person that gets up everyday and finds a purpose in what they’re going to get done in order to tackle the bigger picture. Your bigger picture changes as life goes therefore you’re never really done meeting the end of success. Success is accomplished daily in the positive outcome you have given yourself; even the tough times that require your full dedication and efforts.
In my case, my world started becoming more and more about myself followed by the art I’m so thankful to have, which is styling hair and finding the beauty and happiness in people. Ultimately, it’s for me; and as time goes on, my views on my art and my goal of being a happy, human being, enjoying the true gifts of life. Being successful is an everyday thing, and it always starts with succeeding with yourself.

Samantha , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My business started out as a mini goal I wanted to reach back when I was 14 years old, roughly 6 years ago.
Growing up, I was always fascinated with fashion, hair, makeup, and overall beauty. I was very interested in watching tutorials and educating myself on things I liked. This was a big one.
I reached an age that I knew I wanted to start working right away to help my parents out with myself and my expenses and be able to take a weight off their shoulder.
I started working from home and had made an Instagram page just to post my work for fun and see what traffic it’d get. Sure enough, one client led to another and another and the word of mouth spread pretty quickly as time went. About 2 years passed by and I was working a part time job and I finally decided I wanted to take the risk at the age of 16 going on 17, to depend on my own schedule to accommodate clients to get their hair done. Eventually I had worked at my first hairstylist location which was a barbershop and developed experience as I went.
I saw more and more of the environment and the art with hair and I knew I wanted to learn more. Later after graduating high school at 17, I took about 2 years to work and build my clientele to then pick up cosmetology school at 19 and be able to be a licensed cosmetologist by 21.
Throughout this journey I’ve been successful on many scales and it goes to show there’s not just a road for one success opportunity. I’ve endured many and I’m thankful for it.
I’m currently still in cosmetology school and have 400 hours left to complete. I’ve been a professional braider for 6 years now, working with professional athletes and celebrities, and only going on up from there. I love to deliver top notch, luxurious quality service only here in Miami and soon LA.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building my audience on social media had a lot to do with interacting with followers and responding and reciprocating support. As well as the use of hashtags and posting the right content at the right time of the day address with hashtags to your targeted audience.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
I worked 2 part time jobs in my life. AMC and Pizza Hut Call Center
This was the cherry on top for me to completely renounce to ever working for/with someone on that level for something I didn’t love or even like doing. Thank God o was under my moms roof and I had the opportunity to save up some money and eventually be able to sustain myself; with the time I had to build up clientele and experience and be able to finance my business and myself.
