We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Samantha Gauthier a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Samantha thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
I love being a business owner. I love being able to have control over the quality of products I use and schedule. There are times that I sometimes think it would be easier to work for someone else rather than ve a business owner. I feel like when you work for someone else it takes some of the accountability off yourself. I think as a business owner I take more pride in my work and the way I handle situations good or bad.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I was a terrible job hopper in the retail world. I had a two year old and was about to turn 30. You could say I was having a midlife crisis. I’ve always loved the idea of waxing and never took care of my skin. I figured let me get into waxing. From there I applied and graduated school. I worked at the number 3 spa in the state for a couple years before starting Satsuma Esthetics where I now focus on relaxation facials, waxing, and natural lash services. I focus on a holistic approach and really have a passion for massage during facials.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I feel like consistency is the key. I give exceptional services and clients know what to expect from me. I don’t push boundaries on guidelines for services. I’m extra cautious and put my clients health above all.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Honestly I’ve been blessed in this department. I use lots of community groups to promote my business. I pass out goodie bags with samples to businesses. I get out in the community. I joined the chamber of commerce. I connect with businesses that have values and passion I can get behind.
