Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Samantha Eck. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Samantha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
Firestorm Finance originally started as Freedom Finance. I wanted my bookkeeping business to sound like I was there to help you somehow. After going through the application process for my LLC, I was told that I could not use Freedom Finance as someone else in Texas was using that same name. I sat with my thoughts for three days, mulling over what I wanted my business name to be. I knew two things. I wanted it to be alliterative, and I wanted it to have some form of deeper meaning. After much thought and research, I came up with Firestorm Finance, and I chose this name for a few reasons. First, I decided it because accounting and business finances can sometimes feel like you are in the middle of a firestorm. There is so much going on that you feel overwhelmed and sometimes even frustrated. So, instead of letting yourself think this way, Firestorm Finance is the firefighter that puts out those firestorms and helps you to see the clarity in your numbers. The second reason was because of my faith. Biblically, fire is meant to represent a form of purification and transformation, and I knew that by working with me, we would be transforming your numbers and helping you step out of that fire into a changed business.

Samantha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started to get into accounting by working as a corporate staff accountant for a company. I loved numbers, but I wasn’t a fan of the last-night calls or the weekend overtime when I felt like my time was being violated. After working on getting my accounting degree and having five years of experience to back me up, I decided in February 2023 that starting my own business was possible. It was scary because we only had our emergency fund and my husband’s income, and while it may have set up back a little bit, my business slowly started to thrive.
I provide bookkeeping and tax services to small businesses, mainly in the creative sector. I help them achieve financial clarity by giving them the story behind their numbers and allowing them to understand what is going on truly! What sets me apart from most bookkeepers is that I genuinely care about my client’s success and will do everything possible to help them. This looks like analyzing different numbers and data to honestly give them the bigger picture or giving profitability advice to help them figure out what is and is not working within their business.
What I’m most proud of is my relationship with my clients. I always want them to know that I am their ally. I will never berate or judge you based on what is happening in your business. If you want to spend all of your hard-earned dollars on food, then please do! I am there to show you where your money is going there and see if that is truly where you want it to go. I am your biggest cheerleader; there to be excited when you have big wins, and I can help you see how that changed your next few months. What is important to me is helping my clients reach their goals and be able to overcome any obstacles they might be facing.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Social media has been a long and arduous journey for me. While I would not say I’m an influencer, I’ve grown my following to a place where people are loyal and continue to come back to consume my content. How did I do this?
They say consistency is key; this is 100% true, but outsourcing is just as key. While I still handle most of my day-to-day engagement and ensure that I am growing and building my audience, having someone to create my posts and content has been a breath of fresh air. One thing I’ve learned is that you can’t handle everything on your own. You are not skilled at every aspect of your business, and that’s okay. There is someone out there who specializes in the things you don’t like to do, and they can help you grow exponentially if you give them the time and the money to do so!

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I have three things I do for my client to help foster brand loyalty, with one only starting recently. First, I send a welcome gift and personalized message when a client chooses to work with me. This shows them how much I appreciate their business. I always get every client’s birthday so I can add them to my calendar and send a personal message on the day and a little treat for them to enjoy with their family. Helping them know that I celebrate them also helps to grow my loyalty. Lastly, I write down their client anniversaries so that when we celebrate working with one another for another year, we can celebrate it together and recognize all our progress over the years. It shows how much I’ve done for them and helps them realize how much I value them. I do this authentically because I would have no business without my clients, so I want them to learn how unique everyone is.
