We were lucky to catch up with Samantha Correia recently and have shared our conversation below.
Samantha , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I knew I wanted to pursue a creative path professionally after giving other paths a try and finding out it wasn’t for me. The first career I wanted to pursue was being a veterinarian but was talked down by my heart surgeon father. He wanted me to be a surgeon like him.
After high school I joined the army national guard then gave biology pre-med a try and college.
It was obvious to my advisors, friends, and family I was not happy with the path that I chose.
I was majoring in biology for 2 years and was in the military for 4 before my therapist helped me realize my true calling.
I went directly to art school the next year and my entire world was changed!
Now I’m continuing my studies at CCAD this fall pursuing interior architecture and design and minoring in fashion!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hello, I’m Sam! Started off known as hologram Sam, which is my cosplay name. Now Im found under Hologlam sam. My digital footprint started during the quarantine of COVID.
I decided to become serious about what I thought was fun, cosplaying!
I started off with making closet cosplays out of whatever I could with what was in my closet. It became a hit! As I started to grow So did my confidence.
I wanted to pursue something bigger than me.
I gave modeling a try. Being introduced to a photographers by my cosplay friends, I was able to jump in and got published my very first photoshoot!
Then everything else that followed blossom from inspiration from all the people that I’ve met along the way.
A lot of it included trial and error, I’m still learning a lot about every industry I’m in.
What sets me apart is that I’m always willing to grow and I love to see others grow with me! I give advice and model coaching to other models. Marketing advice to anyone who needs it. Modeling opportunities for fashion shows or whenever I can with my camera.
Also, I create opportunities for everyone to come together and have a creative event with themed photography/ modeling events!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
All the signs were there when I was young. You could always find me done with my assignments in class halfway before the period was over so I can draw in my notebook. As a kid I liked too dress up Barbie dolls and fix up their homes to look cute instead of actually role playing.
I was always drawn to artist and would stick to groups online that were creative.
Now creative seem to gravitate to the same places and we all get to know each other.
Even though I was pursuing other careers before all of this. I was always drawn to this community and it was time it wasn’t ignored.
Now nothing is holding me back!
How did you build your audience on social media?
The cheesy stuff that people say online about growing is actually true! Be true to yourself and be genuine.
A lot of my audience was brought in by me doing what I loved and being creative doing cosplay.
Now I get to be creative with modeling but I feel like I’m focusing on what everyone wants to see and not having that genuine touch like I used to.
Anyone could be and your audience for your looks. But the ones that stick also love you for your personality.
And don’t you worry. More cosplay is on the way! Hologram Sam will be back!
