We were lucky to catch up with Samantha Beppu recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
As a Reiki Master Teacher and Certified Death Doula, the legacy that I hope to leave is one of healing, releasing of fear, and deep compassion and gratitude. It is my life path to assist others as they navigate this life and labor out of it. I also teach Reiki in an effort to share this beautiful and universal healing modality with as many people as possible.
I think that people will remember that I was a deeply caring person and a dedicated mother, friend, and partner. I think people will remember how I loved to help others and never stopped learning.
I hope that they will talk about times that we laughed until our cheeks hurt. I hope that people remember how hard I worked and how hard I loved.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a Certified Death Doula, Reiki Master Teacher, CMA Certified Sound Healer, and business owner. I have always known that I would be in the business of helping people, so when I was young, that meant the medical field. I particularly wanted to work in hospice. I worked in healthcare for sixteen years and I loved it. I learned so much and formed very special relationships. My favorite part was direct patient care. I loved bonding with patients and making a difference in their lives.
My last three years as a healthcare worker were spent in naturopathic medicine. I had never heard of naturopathic medicine and found it fascinating. I learned so much and it opened my eyes to the world of alternative medicine. I studied constantly and eventually became certified in several areas of energy and sound healing, and as a Death Doula.
I put great value in the education that I have. As a Reiki and sound healing practitioner, I have a unique skillset that enables me to help people as they navigate this life. I provide healing modalities that have been shown to be mentally, emotionally, and physically beneficial to people and animals.
As a Death Doula, I have the ability to also provide emotional, spiritual, and physical support to people and animals as they labor out of this life. I provide end of life planning services, companion care, medical advocacy, and around the clock care during active transition. My job is to do as much of the work as possible to ensure a peaceful and intentional transition. I am also a supporter of Death with Dignity and the individual’s right to choose what their good death looks like.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I would probably say word of mouth and drop-ins have gotten me the most new clients.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I show up for my business every day. If I don’t have the energy to leave the house, I work on ads and content for my social media accounts and website. I just keep the momentum going and try to be present as much as possible.
