We were lucky to catch up with Samantha Bailey recently and have shared our conversation below.
Samantha, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today I’m sure there have been days where the challenges of being an artist or creative force you to think about what it would be like to just have a regular job. When’s the last time you felt that way? Did you have any insights from the experience?
I absolutely love what I do and I wouldn’t change a thing in my journey. I do wonder what it would be like to have a “regular” job but I just couldn’t see myself doing anything else! I get to make an impact on others and that means more than anything to me. When I’m not auditioning or on a set, I teach dance and acting to preschool age students. Seeing them light up and love this art the way that I did when I first started in the industry, brings me so much joy! I could not be happier!

Samantha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am an actress, model and dancer based in Los Angeles, California. I started in the entertainment industry when I was 4 1/2 years old. I told my parents for months that I wanted be on tv! As for any 4 year old, they thought this might just be a phase but I persisted. We found my now manager and agent soon after and I have been going ever since! Determination and staying true to myself have always been my priority. I love making an impact on others and I want to continue doing that as long as I can! I am also an official NASCAR trophy girl! I love being at the track and watching the races!

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I think the rejection aspect of the entertainment industry is something everyone has a hard time understanding. Even for myself, learning that at a young age was difficult but it didn’t stop me. Whether it’s auditions or other jobs. I get told no more times then I’ve been told yes and that’s just how the industry goes. The important thing about that though is that after being told no to whatever it is, I then will make sure I do even better the next time I go out for something. It’s really about never giving up. I am a big believer in everything has it’s time in your life and everything happens that way for a reason. You may not realize what that reason is right now but it’s up to you to decide if you want to continue on to see when the right time comes.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I’ve always been very true to myself when it comes to my social media presence. As always, you have to remember that Instagram and other social medias essentially only show the highlights of your life. You can’t believe everything that’s on the internet. I do my best to post things that I feel are showing my honest and real self. I think that resonates a lot with my audience since they get to see what goes on in my everyday life! For those that are starting out, try not to only think about the numbers and views, try to make friends and connections. I’ve met some of my best friends and even my boyfriend through social media. The more real you are online, the more people will see that and will gravitate towards your pages.
