Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Samantha Ann Marquez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Samantha Ann, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
As a musician myself, (15 years in Music Industry) I figured out how to promote my content and keep my material relevant. I established connections from all throughout the industry. Linkedin has been a huge help in establishing these connections. Since I figured it out myself, I wanted to be able to offer struggling musicians the same service that I pulled together. I have a desire to help musicians who want to make it. My network is extensive. I’m also a Music Journalist so that comes in handy when trying to promote. I can trade my services for their services and we can make something happen. I love helping artists.

Samantha Ann, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
When I graduated Freer High School in 2009, I knew that there was only one path I wanted to take, music. I love anything having to do with music. I embarked down a path that lead me to living near Nashville Tennessee. I recorded at Sound Kitchen Studios in Franklin TN and had a music video directed by the late director Michael Creason. After my video was released, I had so much positive feedback and even topped charts with my singles. I had even beat out a few of my own personal heroes as Carrie Underwood and Lady A. I had a lot of pressure at an age where I was freshly out of High School. I am going to be candid about something and say, I have epilepsy and during those moments was facing the anxiety of flashing lights upon me. I was scared I was going to have a seizure around all of my music peers and fans. Now that I have a preventative, I can fearlessly embark back down my musical journey. I have a lot left that I want to do.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I was walking the red carpet at the CMA’s (Country Music Awards) in Nashville and was bombarded with flashing lights that made me think I would have a seizure. The pressures of having epilepsy and a music career were horrible and kept me down. It kept me from wanting to reach out to labels. I now face those fears head on and inform everyone involved possible. I now believe I could finally face the lights, as a songwriter and possibly an artist. I’m still writing and recording today and have my fearlessness to thank.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I stepped down from the limelight and focused on my journalism career. I learned so much about some of my favorite artists as Halsey and other well known artists. Halsey inspired me however to embrace my ailment and face fears head on. Listening to other artists’ stories is a blessing and encourages me to be better for the next generation of artists and music lead professionals.
