We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Samantha Cornell & Emma Hill a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Samantha and Emma, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
We believe being successful starts with Setting goals, sometimes they may not seem super realistic but it’s important to put them down somewhere you can see them, read them over and over again. You must also have passion for what you are doing. Learning what you’re capable of and pushing yourself harder and further than you ever thought you could can be fun and so exciting, it’s so important to remember some goals take longer to reach and that’s totally okay!
Staying focused, it’s very important to have some fun once in a while but you must also find balance in staying focused on the end goal.
Most importantly, have fun!
Emma and I have spent countless hours creating ads, mass messaging on Facebook and other social media platforms, making lengthy posts and really grinding to get to where we are now, that doesn’t include the countless hours we spend on continued education and that’s just the start. We are very driven by results, there is nothing more exciting than seeing your work come to life on a person who is about to marry the person of their dreams. The smiles, the happy tears shared between loved ones and the compliments never get old.

Samantha and Emma, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
One night Emma and I were sitting at her kitchen table talking about the bridal industry and how it’s endless, how people will always have weddings and by coincidence we were both sold on the idea of getting up early and spending mornings surrounded by love and incredible vibes.
That same night we came up with a business name that represented us at the time, a traveling bridal hair and makeup duo, Better Together Bridal Hair & Makeup, not only does the name suit the occasion with the weddings, it also represents our friendship, how far we’ve come and how we just do things, Better Together !
We got to work with the knot and wedding wire, obtaining some leads and booking some weddings. Things really started to take off when we built our Facebook and Instagram pages.
By the end of September 2022 things were full swing. Early mornings, lots of hairspray and beautiful people celebrating love is exactly how we spend our weekends these days and we couldn’t be more greatful for all the amazing people we have met along the way! We’ve since been able to hire on incredible employees and take some trips for destination weddings!
When we are asked what we think sets us apart, I truly believe that our work speaks for itself but it’s also a lot about personality and the vibes you bring the morning of.

How’d you meet your business partner?
Emma and I met in downtown Windsor, Ontario Canada in 2016, we added eachother to Facebook in the bathroom of a local bar as woman do during a night out. After a couple years of no communication besides regular photo likes and birthday wishes on Facebook, I had met my now husband and moved to Michigan to go to Cos school in Royal Oak. One day Emma was arriving for her evening class as I was leaving my day class and we bumped into eachother, what are the odds? We made some small talk about how we had met and how crazy it was for us to run into eachother like this. She would soon switch to the day class and we would spend time getting to know eachother and our love for all things hair and makeup.
Just when you think that’s where is all began, I was soon after what I like to call “stuck” in Canada from 2019-2021 due to Covid and boarder closure along side of waiting for immigration and my green card. For hours a day Emma and I would FaceTime and talk about life and how when I got back here and got back to work we would be in the Salon setting together and it would be so much fun!
In August of 2021 when I moved back to the US Emma and I got to work and here we are!

How did you build your audience on social media?
This question is kind of funny because we built our social media with social media, we were able to get on wedding wire and the knot with photos of our work. We created an Instagram and Facebook page and joined all the wedding groups we could and started advertising. Our socials started to gain followers and interest, tiktok and instagram have been a huge help with show casing our work and Facebook has been so helpful with gaining clients and booking weddings.
