We recently connected with Samantha And Alexandra Cooper and have shared our conversation below.
Samantha and Alexandra, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Alexandra and I have always been overly cautious about the toxins we allowed in our home, on our children and on our own bodies. We became frustrated by the lack of transparency in many companies’ products. Once we began diving deep into ingredients, we discovered that numerous products claiming to be “clean” sadly weren’t.
Sharing information became our passion. We constantly searched for new products that met our incredibly high standards and shared our new discoveries for our families. Overtime, more of our friends were diagnosed with cancer. These were young women who we had always thought of as being extremely healthy. These cancer diagnoses angered us. One day while I (Samantha) was in the shower, using my nontoxic body wash that no one had heard of, I had an epiphany- we had to share our hard work and research with others. What better partner to have than my own sister Alexandra. I actually called her from the shower to discuss the idea!
This is how Purely Clean Wellness was born.
Our mission is to take the guesswork and frustration with being tricked out of the equation for people. Our days of endless research and testing has evolved to a one stop shop of trusted products for you, your family, and your home.
Both of our homes now look like an episode of hoarders as we attempt to keep up with every new product and test it rigorously before we approve it on our site. Our drawers are overflowing with 13 different brands of deodorant and 30 different skin serums. We can’t even pretend to organize them anymore, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Our skin has transformed as well as our hair health, inflammation, and the way we feel.
Unlike the difficulty we faced trying to find the right product six years ago, nowadays there are so many great options that you don’t have to sacrifice beauty and a clean home for your health.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Our obsession with clean products and admittedly, our OCD with finding hidden toxins has brought us into the space of helping people. We find safe swaps for people’s favorite products all the time. We have grown a community of over 8800 best friends! We have watched the owner of our favorite body wash Aleavia ( you have to try it) send her second child off to college and come out with a new mens line that both our husbands are obsessed with. We have witnessed our followers cancer battles, and been there for support, and we try to make our Instagram a fun place to educate people using humor and truly showing up as our authentic selves.
From someone who had never been on Instagram (me) and someone that barely touched it (Alexandra), we are proud of how far we have come. We are making reels every day that resonate with people and forming new connections and friendships and growing much faster than we ever possibly imagined. Our 12 year age difference provides a large target market for people. My sister Alexandra has a 7 month old and I have a 14-year-old and 17-year-old. Collectively, we understand the needs firsthand of babies, teenagers, maturing women, and their husbands. Purely Clean Wellness has become our full-time job.

How did you build your audience on social media?
When we initially took a stab at building our social media, we showed up like CEOs of companies. We spent so much time perfecting each product photo and marketed them as if they were our own. We soon found out that showing a product with the perfect lighting was not what people wanted to see. They wanted to hear from us what we’ve learned, what we’ve changed, and how it’s made our lives better. Our social media is a window into our combined nontoxic lives. We are best friends and we like to have fun. While you won’t see us with the perfect filter on- we like to show up as real and authentic, you will occasionally find us on the steps outside my house where the lighting is just right!
And even when it’s not, we don’t care. We have gone from incredibly private people, where no one ever knew what we were up to, to sharing our lives with the world. We wouldn’t have it any other way!

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think what has helped build our reputation is that people genuinely trust us. We are not trying to sell our own product or push anything we don’t believe in. We constantly stay on top of the news and provide people with knowledge and statistics. We also stay on top of brands in case they sell out and change their formulations and add toxins back in. Sadly, this is a common occurrence.
We are truly sharing what we know and trust and all the products we use every day.
