Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sam Dobrozsi. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Sam, thanks for joining us today. Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?
As we have grown our business, many categories of demands have also grown. Our social media had always been something I did myself. Recently I’ve begun migrating my responsibilities to our creative director, Jake Staubitz. Jake owns a design company and does all kinds of creative work for many restaurants. It’s been amazing for me to free up time to work on restaurant operations instead of having my eyes on my phone screen. The lesson has been, “Trust the best people to do what they do best.” I’m good at running restaurants! So I should do that. My guy Jake crushes all the creative stuff, so he should do that. It sounds simple, but sometimes it’s hard to give up something you’ve done for so long.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Sam Dobrozsi; I’m a fourth generation small business owner. I own Fireside Pizza and Allyn’s Cafe. My restaurants are very in-tune with the communities they are contained in.
Let’s move on to buying businesses – can you talk to us about your experience with business acquisitions?
I purchased Allyn’s Cafe and the associated property in 2024. It has been open for 33 years, so it’s a big honor to take over. I purchased Fireside Pizza and the associated property in 2019. Owning Fireside has been one of the biggest joys of my life. I’m excited to tinker with Allyn’s the same way!
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
You’ve gotta advertise, you’ve gotta do promo and marketing. But the most important part of being able to share your work is making sure the work is good. Making sure our product and services are top-of-class, that’s the first and most important part about growing business for us.
