We recently connected with Sam Alcudia & Jody Gonzalez and have shared our conversation below.
Sam Alcudia & Jody Gonzalez, appreciate you joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
It takes quite a bit of character in order to be successful. Timing, tenacity, adaptability–you name it. All are important in starting and growing a successful business. We started in the beauty industry and wanted to open a business that expanded the reach of the normal services we provided everyday. With stretchmark and scar rejuvenation, we are able to hit an array of different clientele from all walks of life. Being in the beauty industry means you need to be able to know how to talk to people. We have the luxury of being one of the first in our county to provide the services we offer. That means, having to do thorough consultations with our clients. Communication is key in order to yield results. It also helps with managing our clients expectations. Managing our clients expectations allows them to be more realistic with their results and in turn will help everyone be on the same page when it comes to the healing process.
Being a post-pandemic business has helped us observe what other businesses are doing to get ahead in times where they once struggled. We do our best to adapt to any situation and do our best to work through it together as business partners.

Sam Alcudia & Jody Gonzalez, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We are Sam and Jody :) We met doing eyelash extensions and grew to become great friends and eventually business partners. We definitely have a similar business mindset and we keep each other going.
We use an array of different serums and natural oils during our stretchmark and/or scar rejuvenation procedure. These are chosen and concocted based on our clients needs.
We are most proud of the care we put into each service and client and we really aim to change the lives of those who are tired of seeing their scars or stretchmarks. While we admire the strength it takes to embrace your scars and stretchmarks, we want to let everyone know that it is okay to choose to do something about it if you’re unhappy with the way it looks or feels. Everyone’s journey to self-acceptance is unique and valid.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Almost 5 years ago Sam wanted a change in her career. She was looking to stay within the beauty industry but wanted to pivot towards something more stable and not as physically demanding as what she was used to. She ended up applying at a lash business that Jody owns. She was hired and through the years their friendship grew. Sam had outlasted all the other artists who worked at the salon and her and Jody decided to eventually open up a business together. We eventually came upon stretchmark rejuvenation (SMR) and decided to open up a business together.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
We have a file for each of our clients. With our process, our clients can choose to come back every 8 weeks to keep up with ongoing results. We reach out to them every now and then after their appointment to see how their results are looking as well as asking if they have any questions or concerns they would like us to address. We believe that being open and personable with our clients helps them feel comfortable with reaching out to us.
