We were lucky to catch up with Salvador Gonzalez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Salvador thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
As a kid I grew up into this trade because my grandpa and dad worked fabricating stone. On the weekends when my dad would get side jobs I would help him which was a plus because I would get an extra allowance. My mom didn’t really want me to learn the trade because she wanted me to go to school. I went to community college for a year to try and pursue becoming a mechanical engineer. During that time I also got my contractors license and started doing my own countertop jobs. As I started picking up more projects it started to become more challenging to continue my education. Soon I realized I really enjoyed the countertop industry and partnered with my father to grow the business.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I grew up into the industry, I would help my dad as a kid fabricate side jobs. It was a skill I learned at a really young age and as an adult I grew a passion for it. At Gonzalez Custom Remodeling we provide stone countertops, both engineered and natural stone. As well as fireplaces and shower walls out of stone slabs. I am proud that I was able to have my dad quit his job and that we are now working together as co-owners.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What helped the business build the reputation was providing quality work with our experience in the industry. We also hear the customer out and try to meet their wants and needs as best as possible. We are honest with our clients and always meet our deadlines and that’s a plus because clients can trust us with their projects.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
I believe that the best source of new clients is word of mouth. My clients share their experience with Gonzalez Custom Remodeling to friends and family. By having a good reputation and providing quality services help spread the word on our business.
