We were lucky to catch up with Saloni Shukla recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Saloni, thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I’m Saloni Shukla, a soon-to-be graduate from the New York Film Academy, Los Angeles campus. Before this, I worked in the Bollywood industry for nearly a decade. I was part of a production company where I worked closely with some of the biggest names in the industry, including Katrina Kaif, Jacqueline Fernandez, Kartik Aaryan, Ananya Panday, Janhvi Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, and many more.
I collaborated extensively with Abhishek Sharma, the founder of the production company Social Whistles. Even before the company was formally established, we worked together as creative partners under another banner, eventually transitioning into producing content directly for actors. In our early days, we functioned as a tight-knit team, he focused on shooting and directing while I was solely responsible for editing. This responsibility pushed me to become highly self-reliant, efficient, and skilled at meeting tight deadlines.
Over the next few years, as the company grew, so did my role. Countless hours of work many of them sleepless night helped me hone my craft and become both faster and more precise. As our team expanded, I took on the creative lead, mentoring interns and overseeing multiple projects.
Some of the key campaigns I’ve worked on include Dior with Elle Magazine India, Gucci with Elle Magazine India, Outhouse Brand Campaign, Laneige India, Aquazzura, and Armani and many more.
I’ve also had the opportunity to collaborate with several actors on personal and professional projects.
What I’ve learned through it all is this: if you carry passion in your heart and stay truly determined, nothing can stop you.

Saloni, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into this industry almost by chance. I was originally studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Mass Communication when I stumbled into editing and instantly fell in love with it. It’s fun, challenging, colorful, and each project pushes me in a new way. That constant challenge is what keeps me excited and inspired.
Over the years, I’ve primarily worked on digital campaigns and social media content, a space that has evolved rapidly. I’ve directed and edited videos under extremely tight deadlines, always balancing client expectations with my own creative vision. Each project has been a stepping stone, shaping me into the storyteller I am today.
My passion lies in directing and editing beauty and fashion campaigns. I truly feel that’s where my creative voice is strongest. Music is another big influence in my life, it inspires me deeply.
One of the biggest challenges in this field is working with clients who aren’t always sure of what they want. But ironically, that’s also what I love most. I believe what sets me apart is my ability to read between the lines, understand the client’s psyche, and deliver something that not only meets but often exceeds their expectations. That’s one of the reasons why I’ve continued to get more work and build strong relationships in the industry.
Even when ideas are unclear or footage is limited, I’ve been able to shape and elevate the content creatively. I take pride in being resourceful and intuitive. No matter what raw material I’m handed, I know I can make something good out of it. That confidence comes from years of experience and trust in my own instincts.

What I want people to know about me is simple: I love what I do. I’m always open to collaboration, especially in the beauty and fashion space, where I feel my vision and voice truly shine.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Personally, I believe in leading with friendship and support. When your team feels genuinely supported, they’re more likely to support you in return. That mutual respect and encouragement create a strong foundation. Growth, in my experience, happens best when it’s shared, people thrive together, not in isolation.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe my reputation has been built on resilience, loyalty, and most importantly, the quality of my work.
