We recently connected with Saloni Dwivedi and have shared our conversation below.
Saloni, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?
That first dollar you earn as a creative executer is a liberating and addictive feeling. I truly can’t remember the first time I made money from just being myself, and I think thats because I know this is an innate skill I am able to practice to perfection. I do remember earning my first income in a foreign country in the airport through my craft and thats what shifted my perspective completely. Getting the bread will come when the intention is right, without a doubt. The right thing to do, is to utilize your skill of patience. If you can wait to get paid every two weeks for a guaranteed, more than likely a capped amount of money to hit your bank account from a job, then you can surely understand your own worth. You are the keeper of the energy your life, which means you can cultivate a solid stream of income for yourself through what you love to do. And that’s the thing, although we have clear intentions, goals and ornate game plans, when you’re not thinking about the money, is when your mind creates a magnet for $$ to come into your life as a creative thinker.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m from LA with a worldwide perspective. I love how I have opportunities to diversify my thoughts and expression through being an artist. Labels are so wack to me, but the ways I like to express my abilities and what’s going on in my heart and mind are through poetry, painting, designing, travel, naturopathic living & it all gets encompassed in one unique median ground, my lifestyle company, Naitikta. The way I started in all these disciplines is truly by identifying what I like and just putting my foot through the door. I’m not the best painter, but I have fun with it. That right there allowed me to share wall space with gifted artists. My true gift is being a wordsmith, so I just never stop doing it. I’m currently learning the ways I want to share it with the world in a more cohesive, yet multifaceted manner. With designing, I have zero professional training. I learn as I go, but I never let my ideas die. There is always a way to make it happen and learn through the process as long as your are willing to try. How will you get better if you don’t try? Through all my work, I am the most proud that my integrity & morals remain the same. I’m able to share my artistry through collaboration and my brand, which is all an extension of my lifestyle. Naitikta encompasses one golden standard, maintain royal morals, obtain regal material. When it comes down to the core of life, morals are what creates the foundation for whats to come. I showcase how to live good the way God wants us to through what I think is fly & meaningful, with my one of a kind vision of it. 3 years into creating a cohesive hub for my work, I’ve learned about how I want to move forward. The expression gets easier as you develop a tone for it all. I dropped my first women’s wear clothing collection earlier this year, and its only going to grow from here.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Adapting has been an innate skill I’ve had an opportunity to sharpen. I’ve learned to let go the need to control every last detail of my creative execution. Pivoting from that mentality alone, to now approaching solutions from a practical perspective when necessary, has improved my outcomes in business & efficient creative expression. As an artist, it is natural to prioritize the vision, but when you are cultivating business through creativity, you have to remember, to protect the vision, you might need to apply disciplined, logical, and in a way… boring methods. The beauty in that is you are teaching yourself a new way of finding a solution, so you are creating the whole time. Pivoting on the spot with intention makes my job easier. By trusting my team on projects, I’ve transitioned from weighing my expectations down by control, to detaching from the methods and letting go of the syllabus I’ve created in my head for the outcome. Shifting perspective is key.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I needed to unlearn my habits that served no value to continue growth and to maintain the skill of adapting towards the bigger picture. I’m at a major transitional sector where the clairvoyance of my vision is the strongest it has been thus far, leading to a valuable purpose. Cutting out any habits, distractions and perspectives that do not complement the direction I am in has been cut, and replaced with a healthy soil of habits, a new approach. Discipline is required when you choose to work smart over working hard, and in business when you blend that concept with intention, you will move with true purpose and know how to use your time to its best value. I prefer real joy over temporary joy, and I’ve learned to decipher the noise that will attempt to bring outside doubt, as well as the message I receive from trusting my gut. Mistakes are opportunities to find the solution, but one fact remains, you are the one who understands your vision the most, and balancing your intuition while remaining a student will lead you to heights you would not be able to if you were missing one of those characteristics.
