We were lucky to catch up with Sallyann Martinez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sallyann, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
Let’s start at the beginning of the end. After almost a decade of managing a large retail environment that was clearly coming to an end. I felt the difference in the air. The energy was different all around me. It is hard to explain but I think you have the essence of what I mean.
At that time, my job was such a major focus of my life. I reviewed my resume. I actually looked at it and knew it was such an expansive part of my life. Such wonderful opportunities that I took and breathed life into. . .
The end of the end happens… I was called into an office and given an envelope and was told thank you for your tenure but that your salary could no longer be sustained with the new business model that was evolving in the current economy. I chuckled at my Vice President. I literally gave a short laugh out loud, not disrespectfully but with understanding. I said “good luck” to them, stood up tall and walked out of their office door to pack up my office of personal possessions collected over the ten years of 60-hour work weeks. It was oddly freeing. I knew it was coming. I thought I was prepared. I really did feel sorry for the organization. I was, of course, replaceable but I knew I was amazingly good at what I did. And secretly I was not worried about finding a new job. I had multiple contacts in the industry and was respected. The phone started to ring almost immediately as the word spread and I was literally packing up my office.
And then the Universe kicked my butt….6 weeks later and no job. I was dumbfounded. How could this happen? How do you know the mayor of a town and not be able to get a job interview for a marketing position for that town? How do you know the Vice President and Directors and managers at the largest radio station and not get the opportunity to work as a promotion’s person? How do you collaborate with a supplier for ten years and not get a call to fill a position you are perfect for? And so that continued and the count grew of oddly missed job opportunities. Yes, it was true. I was feeling discouraged and sorry for myself. I was surprised and so were those that I knew in the corporate world. I was the most employable person they knew. But the Universe had a different plan for me. I had to feel this one.
I was with a friend of mine that had terrible foot pain and asked me to do some Reiki and energy healing on her to help her stand and heal. Of course I agreed. It was one of the things I loved to do with my spiritual gifts, and I was a Reiki Master. I had been doing angel readings and energy healing for almost 30 years for friends and family. So, it was not out of the question that I would work on my dear friend. And then she asked the magic question. “How are you?” …ugh.
Well, I started to tell her of all the job opportunities that just seemed to be whisked away. Job after job I counted and recounted the perceived opportunities. And as I got to listing the last two, visually using my fingers to count… my eyes grew playful, and the darkness went away. My voice got higher with amusement, and I took a deep yoga style breath. I started to laugh. Ha. Thirteen opportunities. Of course, the number 13. How could I not have seen it. But the Universe needed to hit me in the face and make me feel it with this magical Sallyann number so I would know…
Let me fill you in on the number thirteen. While for some, it is a foreboding number, I consider it my lucky number. First, I was married on the 13th. Married in the middle of summer on a hot Arizona day. Three years later my son decided to make an appearance two weeks early. He showed up on a Friday the 13th in a big and extreme way. He made us a beautiful joy filled family. Five years later my little girl shows up on her terms, just the way she lives life. She is two days early and she flies into this world fast, almost without the doctor. Surprise, that was also on the 13th. Not only did we become a couple and a family, but we became each other’s reasons for smiling; reason for being on this planet; reason for loving and laughing; reason for living a full life. How could the number 13 be anything but my lucky and blessed number. The Universe was clearly showing me something.
So, you can imagine why I started to smile when I realized thirteen work opportunities had not come to fruition. I looked at my girlfriend with awe and shock after I recounted the number of opportunities that did not happen. She looked at me very nonchalantly, shrugged her shoulders and said, as only a fellow New Yorker could say, “Well you’re doing what you’re supposed to be do anyway. I don’t know why you’re looking elsewhere”. My mouth opened, my brain cleared, and I could feel my purpose. It was a profound moment! And it is where it started.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
That “cosmic nudge” led me to step fully into my heart work and build Heaven’s Light Wellness, a business rooted in purpose, compassion, and real-world transformation.
Today, I provide intuitive Guardian Angel Readings, Reiki Energy Healing, and Energy Alignment for homes and businesses. I also offer mentorship, workshops, corporate wellness experiences, and published books and tools including journals, manifestation guides, and angel cards. The problems I help clients solve range from emotional overwhelm and lack of clarity to burnout, grief, misalignment, and feeling stuck — personally, professionally, or energetically.
What sets my work apart is that I bridge the mystical with the practical. I don’t just offer insight; I give people tools they can use in everyday life. My goal is never to create dependence — it’s to empower people to trust themselves, strengthen their intuition, and move forward with confidence.
What I’m most proud of is the impact. Seeing a client regain peace, make a clear decision, heal emotionally, or feel “like themselves again” reminds me why this work matters. I want potential clients and readers to know that Heaven’s Light Wellness is a safe, grounded, and judgment-free space — one where intuition is honored, healing is accessible, and transformation is possible.
At the heart of everything I do is a simple mission: to help people live with more clarity, alignment, and light — and to remind them that the guidance they’re seeking already exists within them.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One of the clearest examples of my resilience came during thee beginning of my practice, when I was carrying a lot — emotionally, energetically, and personally — while still showing up fully for others. I was holding space for clients who were grieving, overwhelmed, and searching for clarity, all while navigating my own uncertainty and exhaustion behind the scenes.
There were days when it would have been easier to cancel sessions, retreat, or disconnect. Instead, I leaned into the very tools I teach — grounding, gratitude, energetic boundaries, and trust in guidance. I learned how to clear what wasn’t mine, refill my own cup, and show up with integrity rather than depletion.
What stands out to me is that some of the most powerful breakthroughs for my clients happened during that time. People found peace, made life-changing decisions, and felt supported in ways they hadn’t before. That experience taught me resilience isn’t about pushing through at all costs — it’s about staying aligned, honoring your own healing, and continuing to serve with authenticity even when life feels heavy.
That season strengthened my boundaries, deepened my compassion, and reaffirmed my ability to rise, recalibrate, and keep moving forward — not by ignoring challenges, but by meeting them with intention and grace.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What has built my reputation most consistently is trust, integrity, and results. I’ve always approached my work with deep respect for the people who come to me — their stories, their vulnerability, and their desire for real change. I don’t overpromise, sensationalize, or create fear. Instead, I focus on grounded guidance, clear communication, and empowering clients to trust themselves.
Word of mouth has played a huge role. When clients experience genuine clarity, emotional release, or meaningful shifts in their lives, they share that experience. Over time, those personal recommendations have become the strongest foundation of my reputation.
I’ve also built credibility by showing up consistently — through speaking engagements, workshops, published tools, media features, and community involvement. I educate as much as I can, and I meet people where they are, whether they’re deeply spiritual or simply curious and seeking support.
Most importantly, I’ve stayed authentic. I don’t chase trends or try to be everything to everyone. I’ve stayed rooted in my values of compassion, integrity, and empowerment — and that consistency has allowed my reputation to grow naturally and sustainably within my market.
