We were lucky to catch up with Salina Womack recently and have shared our conversation below.
Salina, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
While doing a shift change at the hospital one evening as a registered nurse, I heard a shout. “We need help in here”! I ran with the other nurse to the room, and the patient who had just been talking minutes before was dead. We performed CPR and could not get her back. The doctor, being just around the corner, came in at the end of the commotion. I had to call her husband and tell him his wife had died. In that moment, I made a decision to go back to school. See earlier in the day, the doctor refused to give me the orders I requested. I knew based on the patient’s symptoms that she may have had some underlying issues that we might be able to catch through some specific labs and imaging tests. It was a defining moment for me to be able to make a bigger difference in patients’ lives.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
So I was raised barefoot and broke. I got into healthcare because my family was in healthcare. My mom taught me at an early age to be compassionate and that taking care of others was the ultimate service one could do for another. My medical practice, Preferred Direct Family Care Medical Clinic, offers a monthly membership that provides cost-effective Primary Care, Weight Loss, Hormone Replacement, and IV Hydration all in one place for a person’s convenience.
I was raised in the heart of Florida, in the charming city of Bushnell. I have dedicated over 20 years to the healthcare field, providing exceptional service. I am a proud graduate of Frontier University, where I earned my Doctoral degree as a Family Practitioner with honors. I am deeply committed to serving my local community.
The Vision:
It all began with an idea. There had to be a better, more cost-effective way to deliver top-notch healthcare services to our community. Direct Primary Care offers a straightforward path from the patient to the medical provider, ensuring patients receive the care they need conveniently and without unnecessary barriers.
With a low monthly membership, my patients gain full access to our clinic’s services, addressing up to 70% of their primary care needs, including the management of both chronic and acute conditions.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
One of the most helpful things to have in my field of healthcare is the “Caring” part.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Along the way, I have had many challenges, as many do. My resilience in my journey so far has been advancing my career in health care and starting my own medical practice while being a single mother.
