Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Salena Myers. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Salena , appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with a fun one – what’s something you believe that most people in your industry (or in general) disagree with?
Spirituality as a whole is something that most people disagree with because they were taught that anything outside of the church is not of God. I believe that we are vessels and God uses us to do his work and some times it is unorthodox but effective. Judgment is worst than disbelief and my goal is to continue to help those that need guidance and get people to understand how to live spiritually healthy.
Spiritual health is mental health!

Salena , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a woman of many talents so I decided to turn my hobbies into businesses. In 2013, I started my clothing line called ” Little Lady Couture Creations” It is geared towards custom children’s clothing but I do create for all ages. I am known as the “Tutu Lady” to a lot of my clients and I love it.
In 2018, I formed Dance With Purpose Dance company as a one day a week class held at Frogtown Community Center (formally known as Scheffer Rec Center). We are now a full functioning dance program that travels the Midwest for competitions and perform locally for showcases and community events. This dance program has helped so many children build confidence and amazing dance skills. i wanted to give to the community what was given to me as a child looking for her place in this world. Constant funding would help with so much including offering scholarships and more group activities outside of the dance studio to keep the momentum up.
Lastly, in 2020, I created Soulsational Scents and Healing after receiving my Holistic Practitioner certificate, My business is all about healing through handmade energy products, Spiritual mentoring, trauma/shadow work and help with meditation and chakra balancing. I was welcomed into the Yoni Treats and Wellness center in June and I feel this was the best decision for my business. Spiritual health is mental health and I want to be a vessel for the community to use to get the healing that they need, I want to show everyone that healing feels good and looks good.
I currently run all 3 businesses full time because in October 2020 I made the decision to fully focus on my businesses and leave childcare in the past. It has been a roller coaster ride with a lot of financial struggles and sleepless nights, but I would not change it for the world
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Word of mouth has been the best tool/strategy for all my businesses, but i have also gotten a lot of business from doing community Pop-up shops and hosting my own events to promote. For instant on September 17th was our 3rd Annual Buck Out show out dance showcase and it was very successful and it gave children the opportunity to see what Dance With Purpose does so now I have 9 new students enrolled after the show. Social media has been very good to me and the majority of my business comes from Facebook, but I am currently trying to build a bigger presence on Instagram and tiktok because i was told that I have “influencer vibes”.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Being my genuine self!! When I was 9 years old I remember trying to sell spray combs to my friends at school, I wanted to be a business owner I loved trying to sell things that I felt people needed, I have always been a humanitarian even as a young child I was put in leadership positions or the person that people always came to for help. I am a very hard and passionate worker and I care about how my clients feel.
I do a lot of research and i try to stay outside the box and people can appreciate my non conventional methods, I just love what I do and It shows in everything that I do.
