We recently connected with Salem Alexander and have shared our conversation below.
Salem, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I hope to go down in the books as one of the greatest ring announcers of independent wrestling, or any event for that matter. I have had so much fun making a name for myself all over the state of Georgia, getting recognized for announcing talent from all over the country. I want to be remembered as a locker room sweetheart, someone who gets things done and doesn’t play about the craft I love. I am a go-getter, a hard hitter, and a top tier person helping out some top tier athletes.
Salem, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am Salem Alexander, a 21 year old up and coming ring announcer from Atlanta, GA. No mic? No problem. The energy follows me wherever I go. I have been working for 4 months straight all gas no breaks to make sure I can solidify myself in the history of this sport. I started out as a fan paying money to watch my favorite wrestlers beat the snot out of each other. One day I heard a voice from a higher up tell me to make a move and to make it now. I took a chance on myself and haven’t looked back since! I’ve been at so many amazing companies getting to live my dream to the fullest with the people who brought me here.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
At the very beginning of my career, wayyy before I realized I did want to pursue this as a career, I had an opportunity to announce in front of a wrestler I admired a lot! It was the first experience of the sort for me and it was in front of an entire room of people. I started the process of becoming their second announcer, and then at the very last minute, it fell through. I was crushed. I honestly didn’t know how I would burst onto the indy scene after that, but I vowed to not let it stop all the hard work I’ve been putting in so far. 2024 didn’t end the way I wanted it to, but I made SURE to not let that setback hinder my potential and I am so proud of the choice I made everyday. My friends who have their own promotions would allow me to come do a match or two for their show to build up my portfolio. One day I created a resume detailing all my experience… all 4 performances… and sent it to a few companies in the area. Platinum Championship Wrestling got back to me and we have been making magic ever since. Thanks to everyone at PCW it has allowed me to see myself in a brighter light, a spotlight that I know I belong in.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part of this journey is knowing that I’m not just creating something for myself, but for everyone around me. The wrestlers who aren’t used to so much energy and attention to their entrances, the fans who aren’t used to having proper MCs, even instances where I’ve lent my voice to a 3-day tattoo convention to announce a plethora of awards, sponsors, and events. Knowing that I am trusted to gather the attention of masses and put on the performance they deserve means the world to me, and I have a killer experience every time.
