We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sal Giudici. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sal below.
Sal, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
“Meaningful” is a great word to describe my current photography project. I’ve realized that stories and emotions are the main currencies in the making of my exclusive print collection. It feels this way because I think I’ve found the hidden line for a possible connection between an image and the mood of a situation. I pay attention to shades and tones because they can evoke a sense of belonging to the moment, shaping an idea or maybe even some fantasy. When I look at pictures if I keep watching them it’s because I can see a story, I find it extremely relevant and fulfilling.
I’m passionate about photography, visual art, cameras and lenses. I’m learning my style from ideas and skills development. In the past I’ve applied my knowledge for more standard photography uses between a photographer and a client. Overall I had a great learning experience but I couldn’t ignore the conflict with my personality and the need of freedom of expression. So far this is the backstory that drove me to develop a more adventurous and artistic photography concept.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a Scottsdale based photographer that got into the industry while working and shooting products for a made in Italy fashion e-commerce (www.moroitalyboutique.com). Over time my artistic direction became more clear and connected to my subconscious. As a content creator I can shoot portraits, commercial and editorial work but my main craft is shooting unique concepts or places through an original perspective. The people that appreciate my photography usually are the people interested in interior design ideas, art plus collectors. When people hang your artwork on their walls is very rewarding.
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
I think it’s a step forward for creators and true fans to connect and give to artists better economics, by removing limitations ordered by intermediaries. I like the idea of a unique piece of digital media and the fact that NFTs contain trustworthy data of their history and origin. Considering that nowadays most pictures are in a digital format I like the idea that once somebody has NFT ownership is just like owning a physical piece in real life. Obviously when we talk about this topic, we have to consider that we are still in an early stage but I think it will evolve including marketplaces and systems.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson is that following rules and doing the “right things” aren’t necessary the right paths. A great path but maybe not something totally ideal for everybody, especially for those who feels to sacrifice their passions and dreams as a result of doing so. If we can see the passion and reach it, the passion can give us joy in what we do, real happiness.
I’m not a teacher of life but in my humble opinion the backstory is that it’s important to believe in something and to give the best of yourself. “Fortune favors the bold” and with determination and sacrifice dreams can turn into reality. At the end doing something with passion and gratification is already a success.
