Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sal B.. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sal, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
The first time I knew was during my sophomore year of college. I was always musically inclined. I grew up in the choir at church and would always write songs in the notes of my iPod, but never took it serious until I began being more open about my music within my circle and one of my friends suggested I take it serious. Initially thinking about taking music serious seemed far-fetched, but here I am years later thanking God that I did and I am never looking back. I don’t know where I would be without music.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am an up and coming musician from Detroit, MI with intent on global recognition. I began recording music in 8th grade off of my phone and remember vividly being laughed at. That hindered my growth initially because I never went back to creating until my senior year of high school. That year (2017) I let a few people hear my song and they were shocked it was me and told me it was good but that was it. I never released the song. Inevitably I began recording again in 2019 and finally released my first song in 2020 and I have continued to grow as an artist and a human being. I have two projects out as of now “Break 4 the Weekend” and “Before It Gets Better” and I am super proud of those bodies of work, but I am most excited for the music I am getting prepared to release for 2023. You don’t want to miss the rise so if you are here now stay on the ride.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being artist to me is creating my art the way I want and then seeing it perceived well by supporters. As an artist you have the ear for what’s good, but music is subjective at the end of the day so you never truly know how it will be perceived. Seeing people genuinely love your art is a great feeling.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I am driven by my passion for music. I grew up around music. My dad always had me with him while he went to buy CD’s at the CD store and I would listen to Stankonia by Outkast every time. I vividly remember getting picked up from school and he was playing Graduation by Kanye West. I never realized how much music influenced me until now. It’s not about the money or the fame with me. I want to spread positivity through my music and show kids like me that when you are determined and work hard that the success will come. Don’t focus on the outcome just enjoy the journey.
