We were lucky to catch up with Saint Raphael recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Saint, thanks for joining us today. Do you have a hero? What have you learned from them?
My Grandma is my hero! She raised me when I was still a baby. She is my hero because she is very wise and always has great advice no matter what the question is. She is 93 years old and has experienced so much in life and she is still going strong. She has influenced me to chase my dreams, be the best person I can be, have a strong faith with GOD, and to have strong mindset. She is the definition of living the good life.
Saint, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I first got into music at an early age playing the piano in which I had private lessons. The funny thing is though I would never practice and I was terrible. Same thing in middle school I had private violin lessons but I was also terrible and I would never practice. I fell in love with music though when I was in highschool when I would freestyle with my brother and his friends for the first time. It just felt so refreshing and put me in a different state of mind, one full with emotions. In college while pursuing my finance degree I would attend as many open mics as possible and would eventually bump into my Music Manager Mason who still manages me today. During that period we would create a plan to drop an album and release music videos. I think the plan went pretty well in which I was able to get more known in the Houston Underground scene and receive attention from artists such as Sauce Walka. After graduating college and having a normal job, I realized I wanted to pursue music more than ever. I did not want to end up like everyone around me going to the same job for 40 years then retire … I wanted to live now. I think with my music it paints a picture of what the future could be like. The music is very RAW, very EMOTIONAL, and it sounds good when your driving on the highway at night. The music I create comes from things I experienced and things I want to experience. These things include relationships with women, wanting more for my self, getting money and becoming my truest self.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
That you are a 1 of 1 person, you don’t have to be anybody else. I have always been weird ever since I can remember but people like it that I act different, talk different, and dress different. I am just happy to be myself.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I want to perform on big ass stages, make my Mama proud, make Houston proud, the world proud and die knowing that I lived the best life I could live for myself.
