We recently connected with Saikou Toure and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Saikou, thanks for joining us today. Can you share a story that illustrates an important or relevant lesson you learned in school
Raised by parents who believed that success was top priority; I held on to that same mindset throughout my academic years of High School while further finishing College in the area of Finance. The Money Market field has great potential as Investments and Finance Management are becoming the future of our economy. I believe that staying up to date in both would help my future.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I grew up in the Western part of Africa and sports was the centerpiece among my community. My initial passion was Soccer and I played throughout High School as it is one of the top sports globally.
I was taller than most among my high school and the teachers saw potential as they convinced me to tryout for A.C. Horoya; which is the biggest Basketball team of Africa. I had hopes of making a career out of Basketball.
Basketball was always that second love of mine and potentially playing for the most popular team of my own home country was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.
After trying out; I made the team and thought that was my breakout moment. Before I knew it; a much bigger opportunity presented itself as I became a United States citizen and was granted the option to fly into the U.S.
The United States produces the most talented Basketball players and I knew I could become even bigger playing there.
I have been living in the United States for almost two years and have had more exposure and opportunities to play the sport of Basketball.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned through that process was to always aim for bigger challenges and stay active until they arrive. Also, moving away from your hometown is needed for growth as it forces you to find other avenues in reaching your journey.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
After graduating college; I began working in the Finance industry as I learned to trade internationally among the stock market. It is my current occupation and I enjoy the challenges of stock market trading.
Though I love the field of Finance; Basketball was always my first love as I did so competitively in high school and looked to progress further in it.
Aiming for more exposure, I worked out for A.C. Horoya; which is the top professional basketball team of Africa.
After making the team; I then had the opportunity to come into the United States. That was too big of an opportunity to pass on as the U.S. is the center point of Basketball.
After arriving into the U.S.; I began training for open Basketball tryouts in Atlanta.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Accidents happen, literally; as I suffered from a motorcycle one which resulted in an injured knee. Unfortunately, it hindered my ability to train as I had to undergo therapy to recover.
A motorcycle accident was one of the most frightening events I’ve experienced; but bouncing back is always my mindset. Even during therapy; I continued to train in order to stay as focused as possible. My hopes of getting back to Basketball was top priority once I healed.
Though the injury set me back; it was motivation to become even more prepared as I began looking for a trainer to push my limits.
I started training under Inferno Fitness to help improve my Strength, Explosiveness and Basketball skills. The training paid off as I currently play for Team Express; a Semi-Professional Basketball team of Atlanta.
When I am not playing the sport of Basketball; I still continue to trade in the U.S. stock market and internationally with stock markets of other countries.
