We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Saiko Ghoul. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Saiko below.
Alright, Saiko thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
In my personal experience success comes in many different ways & forms. So whatever success means to a person who wants it, to them I’d say, work hard. And be creative, don’t be afraid to look stupid. And make sure to give yourself a lot of love in the process. It may be a long journey with some bumps in the road, but that doesn’t mean you won’t reach your destination. So what does it take to be successful? Overall, never give up, and keep love with you.

Saiko, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Saiko Ghoul. I am the owner and sole employee of Ghoul Tarot. I’m a proud witch and psychic who offers spellwork and tarot readings for a living. I can provide, love, healing, curses, protection, and much more. I also teach witchcraft from time to time as well. I’m a folk witch who also does Greek sorcery & I worship the Greek gods & demonic spirits. And while that may be alarming to some, trust me there’s a lot of magick out there that the average person isn’t aware of. In the occult it’s perfectly normal to have at least a couple demons you work with or worship. I’ve always been spiritual when I think about it. For as long as I can remember I’ve always had an interest in the occult & anything spooky or forbidden. As a child my mom would catch me making “potions” in her bathtub which consisted of shampoo, hair oils & more. I would study occult topics and witchy things here and there as far back as 10-11 years old. But I didn’t get serious with my studying until I was about 12 and a half. At that time I was placed in the foster care system and the people I was placed with weren’t very open minded at all. It was a very Christian household, and even though I was legally allowed to practice whatever religion or belief I wanted, they made it almost impossible for me to on purpose (I feel anyways). I was deprived of resources and as a result I had to spend a majority of my time at the local library reading books and at school researching on the computers. That’s only when I wasn’t meeting up with random strangers from the internet to get information and trade knowledge. It was scary sure, but I was determined nonetheless to learn. I learned to read tarot cards early on but I never really felt a need to use them until a few years ago. I met this guy back in let’s say 2019 maybe 2020 and I found out he was my twinflame which is a special type of soulmate. And let me tell you, it was the situationship from hell. Twinflames aren’t meant to be all sunshine and rainbows. The purpose of the connection is to heal emotional wounds basically. But at the same time I was seeking clarity on the situation and I found myself turning back to tarot cards for that. Eventually I started doing readings for others and then it progressed to spellwork too. Which by this time I was already quite advanced with as well. I started to promote myself more on social media to help my business, and now I’m also a social media influencer who’s content is solely occult and spirituality focused. My biggest platform is TikTok, where there’s thousands if not millions of other witches and occultists like myself who do the same thing. We’re a community. We call it “witchtok.” But we’re a very large part of the new spiritual movement you see on social media. It’s fun making content about the subjects I love while also being able to connect with a community of people who share the same interests. I love what I do for work and I wouldn’t change anything. I thank everyone who has ever gotten a reading or a spell from me. And as for that twinflame I thank him too. Because without the headache, I wouldn’t have even considered this career path. In the end everything is how it should be. And destiny is something that surprises us at every turn. You can follow me on all social media @ghoultarot to see my content and more!

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Definitely utilizing social media. People may hear it all the time, but at the same time they don’t really absorb the information you’re giving them when you say that. Social media is a big dealbreaker in any business in today’s world. For me personally it was really easy only because my audience had pretty much already been built for me. As I’ve mentioned before, TikTok is a huge platform and there’s a large community of occultists and witches who make spiritual and witchy content that people love and learn from and laugh at as well. So when I came onto the scene, yes I was just another “witchtoker” but it’s about who can stand out above the rest. And even though I’m nowhere near my goal of having 10k followers, I go viral every few videos and my content does amazingly well! It’s about being consistent because the numbers are coming in. But posting more equals more engagement (obviously) so definitely post at least 1-2 times a day when you’re talking about a platform like TikTok if you wanna keep the numbers growing. Any social media for that matter.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to rethink and unlearn a lot when it comes to this industry. Sometimes it’s easy to fall into the trap of trying to fit in the norm. Even when it comes to what I do for a living. But I always have to remind myself that no matter what, it’s better to stand out than to conform. The minute you conform, you lose your power. People like uniqueness. So make sure you’re always standing out above the rest. It doesn’t matter if you do it in a clown hat, just make sure you have their attention. I realized that very quickly especially when dealing with social media and with being a content creator. You learn to be more you and more creative.
