We were lucky to catch up with Sai Jarvis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sai, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump right into the heart of things. Outsiders often think businesses or industries have much larger profit margins than they actually do – the reason is that outsiders are often unaware of the biggest challenges to profitability in various industries – what’s the biggest challenge to profitability in your industry?
The biggest challenge in profiting is figuring out how to bring in customers willing to pay for the quality of service provided. What seems to be the issue is the want for quality service with very low budgets. What I had to do is stand firm and that has caused some of my clients to seek other DJs however, I have slowly gained a new set of clientale willing to pay what is asked.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am DJ StarGayze that is my brand and my stage name. I provide live entertainment for various types of clients. I learned to DJ by watching my father and a couple of mentors of mine in college. In 2006 I started researching the industry and in 2010 I launched my business. I made it my mission to learn about sound quality, music genres that were outside my comfort zone, the importance of having good equipment and customers satisfaction. What I believe sets me apart from others in my industry is I know music outside of the popular trends, I can adapt and adjust without freaking out. I can play 4 hours of house music or 4 hours of rock music with knowledge. If there is something I don’t know and I notice it is highly requested I research it and practice so that Inam authentic and comfortable.

Being a creative is rewarding. It being brave enough in executing what you are passionate about and good at and believe in. This may be hard for some people to understand if you are monetizing from what you do right away are much at all. The thing is, to not let that s steer you away, don’t take lack of support from close ones as a failure or something personally because who personally should believe and support you is You. People gravitate towards the drive.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Authenticity and showcasing my actual talent rather than trying to do the minimum to fit into a bix created by many in this DJ world. Some would try disqualify me because of my choice in software, my choice in equipment however they couldn’t take away my talent. No matter what was presented I executed and left little to say about thise things goin forward.
