Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sahib Ajit Singh. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sahib Ajit, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
I have only had one “regular job” and I was fired after three months. I worked in the university admin office, and my job was to audit the bank statements of the faculty credit cards, making sure that all the purchases were authorized. It was easily the most boring and mind – numbing thing that I’ve ever done. My pay was $11 an hour and my rent was $1000 a month so I was making about $900 a month and wasn’t even able to pay my rent with that job.
The day I got the phone call to not come in was such a great day – I genuinely dreaded going into that office but I thought that that’s normal and what people do – just go to a job that they hate, or that it was necessary to do the boring work so that one day I can work my way up to a more interesting position.
I sometimes do think about what it would be like to have a regular job, and this thought usually comes when things are on fire and extremly chaotic with the business. Just last week, one of my editors went MIA while working on a big project that had a very strict deadline, at the same time, another big project that we were working on had some mishaps with the audio quality, and we were scrambling to fix that, and worst of all a big client that I was to start working with decided that they didn’t need our services. And this was after weeks of planning, scripting, and even some videography work that we had done just to prepare for this client. My phone was blowing up nonstop, and I felt extremely overwhelmed and thought “it would just be much easier if I had a simple 9 to 5 and didn’t have to worry about all this especially after normal work hours when I’m trying to spend time with family or friends or just take some time to myself.”
But when that thought comes, it doesn’t usually last very long because these are the kind of times where things get exciting even if they are stressful. it keeps me on my toes and pushes me out of my comfort zone to try to put out these fires and solve these problems.
Most importantly, on the flipside when things are calm, and the team is running like a well oiled machine, I can disappear for a week and business doesn’t get affected at all. a lot of my friends have regular jobs and are very successful in their respective industries however, on a random Tuesday morning when we’ve had some snowfall and I feel like going snowboarding they are able to join me.
The freedom that I have running a business and managing a team is worth all the stress and chaos that I have to deal with when things are going wrong. I’m able to spend a lot of time doing things that interest me, and work deeply on my personal and spiritual growth, and I’m even able to disappear from the world for a few days without having to worry too much about my next paycheck or a boss that’s hovering over me.
I know would not survive sitting at an office job from 9 to 5, even though sometimes I am online 15 hours a day working.
The freedom and opportunities that come with owning your owning business, are 100% worth all the stress and chaos that also come with your owning business.

Sahib Ajit, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Sahib Ajit Singh and I am the Founder of Powered Agency – we are a company dedicated to creating high-quality content and helping individuals and businesses grow and monetize social media platforms.
We have built an international team in 7 different timezones and are a one stop shop for all things media – not only focusing on creating content with our highly skilled team of Script writers, Videographers, and Editors.. we also grow social media audiences and help monetize those platforms so that creators can earn a full time income from just Social Media and Content Creation.
In high school, I had learned about videography and editing – through a very basic intro class – and I can easily say that that was the only thing that I remember actually learning deeply throughout all of my schooling.
In 2019 I worked with a close friend to build a Data analytics company to more clearly understand the partnerships between brands and influencers, and from there, I was able to create very close relationships with these brands and influencers. After my friend and I parted ways, I decided to leverage my relationship with these influencers, and become their “agent.” I built an “influencer first” agency where we focused on providing social media creators management services to help them monetize their platforms. Quickly, we realize that the space of Influencer marketing agencies was very predatory and always focused on taking advantage and making money off of creators, so we changed business models and did something that no one has ever done before. our agency is 100% non-exclusive meaning that the creators aren’t locked in with us and are allowed to work with whoever they want while we also provide our services. on top of that, we do not charge our creators any fees or commissions for bringing them deals – we instead charge brands and agency fee to facilitate partnerships with these creators.
After a while, we decided that another service that we wanted to offer was videography and editing to help elevate the quality of the content of these these creators and now we have a team of Videographers and script writers across the country as well as an international team of editors.
We work with anyone who wants to grow their social media, build their personal brand, and create another source of income through these platforms, by creating high-quality content, and telling their story.
I’m very proud of the fact that social media platforms that we help manage and grow have reached collectively over 20 million followers and the content that we have helped create for all of our clients and influencers has reached over 1 billion views.

Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
In 2019 while I was working with a friend to build the data analytics company for influencer marketing, we were struggling to connect with brands and companies that wanted to use influencers to promote their products. I was sending about 200 messages on LinkedIn as well as hundreds of emails every day, and we were getting very little response.
This went on for over a month and we were ready to give up. maybe our product wasn’t really needed in the market. My business partner had the brilliant idea to pivot our marketing strategy, and instead of building relationships with brands (who would be our main client base) we decided to build relationships with social media influencers.
In a marketing 101 class I took, this was a clear case of figuring out where your customer hangs out (in the email inboxes of influencers) and grabbing them from there.

Can you open up about a time when you had a really close call with the business?
There have been a few times where big deals will fall through or projects will be way over budget and as the founder of this company, I am responsible for the stomachs of my employees.
That sometimes can be heavy responsibility to take because there are people relying on me to maintain relationships with these clients, close more deals, and grow the company.
In the few times that I have had my back against the wall, the first move is to take a pay cut myself so that I can make sure my team continues to get paid for the work that they do because I know that as an entrepreneur as someone with resilience, the money will come back eventually.
