Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sage Sam. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Sage, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
Thanks to my parents, I have been homeschooled my whole life, which really let me explore so many passions and hobbies. I’ve experienced everything from breakdancing to fencing to coding. However, from my first guitar lesson, I knew this was something that I should stick with. Once I found something I liked, my parents let me follow my passion and dreams. My parents have always been supportive of letting me commit 100% to my musical journey and pushed me towards what I was meant to do.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a 18-year-old self-produced singer/songwriter from Los Angeles, California, who has been releasing music over the last two years. I try to be as creative and true to myself as I can with my music. I’m not usually worried about being bound to a genre, but I am focused on creating the music that I feel will resonate with people.
I have always been a big fan of acoustic sounds and instruments like guitar and piano, but I am also a huge fan of electronic music with synths and creative sound design, so I try to combine both in my songs to create a unique blend of sound to my production.
The best part is when I get to be up on stage to spread a positive spirit with my music. Whether I’m trying to inspire others to accomplish their dreams or just make their day a little bit brighter with my songs, there is nothing like the energy I feel when I’m performing for the crowd.
I also love doing collaborations with other awesome musicians. I’m really happy about my latest song release with the wonderfully talented Mila Nabours called “Let Loose”. We wrote the song about overcoming fears and being true to yourself, and it is super fun to dance to.
I’ve also begun producing for other up and coming musicians. In addition, I help with songwriting and making music videos. This process of creating with other people has been very rewarding.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect for me is the process of ideation to creation. Bringing an idea that’s only in your mind to a real life thing that you can share with people is an amazing process. There are some ideas that only you could create, and being able to just bring them out into the world with your artistry is something truly special.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One lesson I’ve had to unlearn is about second guessing myself. I have always had a lot of influences that have helped me tremendously, but one thing that is easy to forget is being authentic to your own ideas. Having your own personal spin on things is what really matters and what are people really looking for.
