Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Safyra Bakshani. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Safyra, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the story behind how you got your first job in field that you currently practice in.
As an entrepreneur I would say my first ‘job’ was really my first client that brought me to the Middle East. I was offering free clairvoyant readings on the beach in Thailand were I had been studying yoga. I met a woman who worked with women in the Middle East. She put me in contact with these girls and I started working with them remotely doing readings on the phone. One person turned into two, turned into ten, ten turned into trips to the Middle East to do group workshops and events. It was a really tough experience of learning a new culture and how to maneuver within that culture. I think that growing up in the US you get a certain privilege of freedom that we don’t know we have. I had trouble walking down the street without a hijab out there. There were a lot of obstacles to overcome but ultimately it was the most amazing work I could have ever asked for. I love the girls I work with in the Middle East. They’re so much fun and I can’t ask for better work.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a Clairvoyant Reader and a Hypnotherapist. I also do somatic healing and training through my Embodiment Method program. The work I do is to help people to move from body to spirit. I teach practices such as yoga and qigong that help move stagnant energy or ‘qi’ through our body so that we are more open to connect to spirit. The readings I do are about past life clearings. Many people have issues or things going on in their lives that may have been passed down through their family lineage or they are stuck in a karmic cycle that needs to be broken. Most are unconscious to these issues so I go in and look to see what they are holding in their field. After doing the clearings sometimes things open up in a persons life. Often though, people are in need to ongoing work and they take on the body practices I teach in the Embodiment Method. These practices help them to stay aligned and in tune with themselves while they clear their own karma.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Just after Covid I got involved with a yoga studio and decided to open a second branch of the franchise. In order to do this I had to work with the current owner and go through the proper channels to get the support from the company I was working for. Along the way people were asking me why I was opening a studio under the umbrella of an already existing company when I could probably open my own brand new company. I really didn’t believe in myself to be able to take what I had going on with individual private clients into a large business structure that hadn’t already been built before. I wanted the support of an already existing company and brand.
Long story short, the owner of the branch I was working for and with ended up firing me and blackballing me from the entire company for no reason. She just wanted me out of the brand so I couldn’t open up a second studio and potentially become her competition. This was a very hard lesson to learn. If you stand out for whatever reason, you just have to stand in your power and do the work. Unfortunately I wanted to be behind somebody when I needed to be the leader. Now I am working toward this goal with no support and no template in front of me. It’s very hard and very unclear but I am creating what lines up with who I am and what I see the culture needs in this particular moment.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
I think that working in wellness you are always going to have to work on yourself. You are the product and you have to do the work to keep yourself solid and healthy. And there are levels to self evolution. You can learn a technique, but you have to actually test it all on yourself. You get to work the process and integrate it into your life. We are all works in progress and what that means is that you are working on your progress. If I ever get too busy, I have to remember to go back to my practice and spend time working through whatever is going on in my life through the practices that I teach. Unfortunately it can be very easy to get busy and stop doing the work. You just have to keep a disciplined practice and keep working through your own stuff no matter how busy or distracted you get.
The second major thing that I have learned is that sales is an amazing process. Sales is something that I used to shy away from being a healer. I started off my work in a very allowing state. I sat and waited and clients showed up. That’s the beauty of being in a strong spiritual state, quite often people will be unconsciously drawn to work with you. However, there are definitely times when you have to put yourself out there. I was very sales averse in the first half of my career. These days, however, I use sales in a way to really help people. Sometimes people need to be told what to do next. There is also the fact that nobody will know what you do or that your work exists if you don’t do some level of sales in your business. As an emerging salesperson for my own business, I am discovering that learning about sales actually helps you to become a more mature and social person. Learning about sales has really helped me to become more open to people around me.
