We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Safarri Jessop a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Safarri , thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My passion started with Martial Arts, and then it led to modeling and eventually a photographer. I fell in love with taking photos when I realized I have the skills to make them come to life and editing skills. I thrive to be successful with wedding photography because I love the story behind the photos and how each most memorable moment can be captured and forever adored. It reminds me of how good life can get and the beauty behind it that makes everyone stop and look and enjoy.
Safarri , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a deaf photographer and a martial artist world champion. I also am a social media influencer and have a lot of fans and followers. I started training in martial arts when I was 13, and halfway into that I started modeling and eventually I became a professional photographer. A lot of people thought it was unique that a deaf person could accomplish so much especially in becoming a world champion in Haidong Gumdo (Korean swordfighting) and then became a model and eventually a photographer. I learned through watching and using my eyes to pay attention to the details and I learned to communicate with people without hearing or speaking. I coach people through modeling poses and take the photos and I loved how the photos have a story behind them. I fell in love with wedding photography and thrive to reach that dream of being a professional wedding photographer. I do take photos in general and with martial arts related and promotion and landscape photography. I have been successful with working with so many wonderful photographers, mentors, and models and made friends and learn new things. I travel a lot and take landscape photography all over the place.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
It was very challenging at first. It takes a lot of self confidence and courage to start, and then the patience and determination to keep going. There were a few times I nearly quit, but I reminded myself that no one became successful overnight. It takes hard work and patience and dedication. I just keep editing and posting and find out what people wants to see more of, and what will get the most effective results and work towards that goal. It could take years, but so worth it. Never give up!
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Definitely making good impression and show good value and mutual respect and support each other. I support people in whatever they thrive to achieve, and I get the same in return. I have followed, commented, and compliment many people who just started their journey, business owners, media figures, fitness trainers, others and support them and cheer them on. That kind of attitude and positivity will find itself way to me too. Always wish others good and support them and except nothing in return. It will slowly come back and surprise you in some way and give you a lot more than what you have already given back.
