We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sadie Evans. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sadie below.
Alright, Sadie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I am hoping to build a legacy that my children’s children can live off of so that they can pass it on to their children. When I leave this earth, I believe people will say, “Sadie never gave up despite her circumstances; she loved genuinely, she gave, and she showed up as her authentic self each and every time.” I hope to be remembered by the words that I have written or spoken into someone’s life. I hope that my words caused positive transformation in the lives of those that I encountered.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Well, hello everyone! My name is Sadie Evans, and I am an author, transformational speaker, podcast host, and certified mindset coach. I was more pushed into my industry as an Influencer. I mean, I graduated college with the traditional mindset that I would land a job in my field, pay off my student loan debt, buy a home, and live life, but life had other plans. When I graduated college, I moved to Georgia to get away from the limits that were placed on me in my hometown. Once I got to Georgia, I couldn’t find a job and was forced to live off of my credit cards, which pushed me to really sit with myself, and in doing that, I realized I had a story that could potentially help others. So I began writing my first book, which turned into me writing six more and also starting a YouTube channel. Doing that led to me gaining followers, so I decided to create courses and webinars to help them more effectively. Being an influencer takes a level of discipline that I am learning to develop as I continue this journey. I help entrepreneurs pinpoint their gifts and talents so they can build an impactful brand that they can monetize. I am most proud of my strength as a woman. I am a single mother who survived childhood trauma, domestic violence, and just the issues that come with raising children alone. However, I did not allow that to be an excuse to give up. I knew I still had something GREAT within me. I want my followers to know that everything I teach I lived through, and I mean everything. the empty bank account, homelessness, nights where I cried myself to sleep, and so much more, so do not give in or give up; your time is coming.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn that bad things follow success. When I say that, I mean that in my community as a black woman, we were conditioned to believe that on our journey to success, with every win, there would be a loss. I had to realize that my belief in that and also my saying that out loud were inviting that into my life. I don’t want to minimize the challenges that come with success; however, I want to expose the myth that bad things should follow wins. It’s not true, and we have to stop inviting that into our lives. We can and are worthy of enjoying the wins that we worked hard for without waiting around for something bad to happen in order to confirm that we are really winning. Once I unlearned this, I was able to realize my fear of success.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Social Media has been challenging for years. I tried to look perfect, say the right words, and so much more, which caused me to become someone other than myself. Once I eliminated that facade and started to authentically show up right where I was in life, my followers grew, and people started to engage with and receive me. My only advice when it comes to social media is to show up as your authentic self; people will appreciate that more than you trying to be someone that you aren’t, and people will see right through that. People want to see you in your purest, raw form; it’ll make them want to know more about you because you have made yourself relatable. So BE YOU each and every time.
