We caught up with the brilliant and insightful SADIE Evans a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, SADIE thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success is a very subjective word and even experience, because to me, success means health, which would give me the strength I need to obtain money and family and friends, whom I can run to when life is kicking my butt. To others Success might mean money, a big house, and a nice car. However, the things it takes to achieve success are universal and I stand by that because success requires HARD WORK, and I don’t mean that as in physical labor; I mean it as in discipline, consistency, boundaries, and passion. Success is the direct result of pressing through the pressure that comes with life for all of us! Success is never giving up; success requires you to believe in yourself. Sometimes it will just be you. Sometimes you will have to sacrifice that nice handbag or that night on the town because success will be asking you to invest that money in something more important or it’ll need you to put that time into something that you can reap that harvest from later. Success, in a nutshell, requires you to see the vision and to ethically make the vision a reality by any means necessary. So yes, success, regardless of how you perceive it, takes hard work and self-motivation.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am Sadie Evans My greatest achievement thus far is my children. I am a mother and I wanted to put that out there because oftentimes we feel like being a parent hinders us from becoming who we are destined to be. The reason I say my greatest achievements is because I believe my children gave me the push I needed in order to become a published author of 7 books, a podcast host, a speaker, and also a certified mindset coach. They made me never give up on myself. They gave me the discipline I needed. Now I am able to help individuals dig deep within and uproot their limited beliefs so that they can design the life they deserve. I do this through my 8-week intensive mindset reset program. What sets me apart from other coaches, in my opinion, is the fact that everything I teach I had to live through first, so that gives me the mental stamina to have patience with my consumers and it also gives me the passion to walk them through the process, because I know there is beauty on the other side. I know what mental poverty looks and feels like and I now know what an abundance mindset feels like and ultimately attracts into your life and my only goal is to help others get to the other side of their pain all by re-conditioning their mindset with the promises that were given to them before they were formed in their mother’s womb. I want everyone to know that the process to your purpose is not always beautiful, but it is worth it once you are authentically walking in your purpose.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearn the fact that perfection is a façade and that I will never be perfect and my business will never be perfect. I realized this because my business was suffering because I was waiting for the perfect time to show up for myself. I was waiting for the perfect content, the perfect words, and the perfect people to follow me. all while watching others around me enjoy their winning season. I remember the day I freed myself from the bondage of perfection, because it hit me like a ton of bricks. My exact thought was, “So you are going to allow your passion to die all because you are waiting for something that doesn’t exist.” “Perfect” does not exist. Yes, prepare for the process. However, stop allowing your vision, dreams, and passion to die because you are paralyzed by this deceitful spirit of perfection. Start where you are, show up as you are, and embrace the journey of growing. It will be so refreshing to be able to look back 3-5 years from now and have something to measure as far as growth, all because you chose to authentically operate as you are in that moment in time.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
This question has many faces for me because my entire life is built on resilience. First of all, I am a single mother that survived domestic violence, and I also severed the stereotype that comes with being a teen mother. However, I’ll keep this short and straight to the point. While building my business at the peak of my success, I found out that my home was infested with black mold. I had just landed my first 3 clients. I was in the process of building my first course and launching my very first webinar. But here I was being told that the home was unlivable and I had days to get out, all in the middle of a pandemic. I wanted to throw in the towel, and those limited beliefs came creeping back in as I searched for a home for my children and I. Nothing was coming fast enough, so we had to go stay in a hotel for 45 days. During that time, I picked up a job to help with expenses, but I never neglected my business because I had the vision of it being successful and I held on to that vision even in the midst of my mess. I went on to host my webinar while in the hotel, finishing my course and still giving my clients all of me. I moved into my home and I am so thankful for the vision. I am proud of myself for never giving up on me regardless of what it looked like. I challenge you to look at the obstacles in life and ask yourself, “What can I learn from this?”
