We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sabrina Trevino. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sabrina below.
Sabrina , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
After film school , my commitment was to continue to learn and grow . While it provides a foundation, the real learning happens on set, through trial and error, and by overcoming challenges. My experiences have taught me that persistence, creativity, and a willingness to learn are what truly drive success in this field.
My journey in the film industry hasn’t always been easy though . It’s been tough at times, especially being a female. Being a female in the film industry can be tough . People often don’t take me seriously because they see it as a male dominated field. Despite this, I continue to push forward, driven by my passion for filmmaking and the belief that my work speaks for itself. The obstacles I face only make me more determined to succeed and prove that women have an essential place in this industry no matter what it is . I have many skill sets and many roles on set from Directing , Cinematography, crafting in the Editing room , Make up Artist , Prop Master, and wardrobe styling . With that said , heck yeah I’m a valuable player in the industry being a women.

Sabrina , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi, my name is Sabrina Trevino, and I’m a Director/Cinematographer/and Editor. A Alumni from The Los Angeles Film School . I primarily work on commercials, documentaries, feature films, and shorts. The film industry caught my eye when I was a kid. Watching many movies and seeing my family modeling and auditioning for films , sparked something in me that has never left.
Initially, I wanted to act, but over time, I grew to love being behind the scenes more. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about shaping a story from behind the camera, capturing moments, and crafting narratives. Each project I take on is a new adventure, a chance to explore new techniques, push creative boundaries, and bring unseen stories to light. I never stop learning . After film school , my commitment was to continue to learn and grow . While it provides a foundation, the real learning happens on set, through trial and error, and by overcoming challenges. My experiences have taught me that persistence, creativity, and a willingness to learn are what truly drive success in this field.

In a world where talent often gets the spotlight, I actually love , I mean REALLY love being behind the camera. I guess that’s just the Director in me .
I love working behind the camera because it allows me to shape the narrative in a unique way. There’s a magic in capturing raw, authentic moments and piecing them together to form a cohesive story. The creative control I have behind the camera enables me to express my vision fully and bring stories to life in a way that resonates with audiences. It’s in these behind the scenes roles that I feel most connected to the heart of filmmaking, where the true art of storytelling happens.
My mission is not only about LionsAct Productions. It’s also about the awesome people we meet along the way and the people that believe in us . My husband and I decided to start this company because for one , we are passionate filmmakers and have the skills and knowledge. We support each other and found ways to bring the best out of each other . Not to mention , we have a great network to work with. We have secured an awesome distribution company for our feature films. We foster talent and create opportunities for aspiring filmmakers and actors . We welcome filmmakers , actors , and businesses of all sizes and backgrounds. No matter where you are in your journey, we provide guidance, support , and collaboration.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
A pivotal moment in my career came when I had my baby. I had to stay home and take care of my newborn, which was a significant shift from my usual routine. At one point, I left for a whole month to be on set, leaving my 3-month-old behind with my husband. I felt like I was neglecting my family and needed to be there with them. Even though I knew my baby was in good hands and my husband supported me, I ultimately decided to take a whole year off to spend with my baby. This time was essential for me, and it reaffirmed my commitment to balancing my career with my family needs. I wrote scripts and hit it full throttle to earn my Bachelors in Digital Filmmaking. After that year, I started my workout journey. Every filmmaker knows how important that is. You’re going to need that stamina for all that running and walking on set! Staying healthy is crucial for handling the physically demanding aspects of filmmaking, and it helps me stay focused and energized throughout long shoots .

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
It’s a privilege to share stories that go untold and to use film as a medium to make a difference in the world. As a passionate filmmaker it feels good to create something for the audience that they can relate to , or even just to enjoy it. I love creating a different world and I love creating things in my mind and watching it come to life . My visions are always my best friends when it comes to my creative thinking and putting it on paper.
I enjoy everything about filmmaking. It’s just instilled in me, and no one can take it away. This passion drives me every day, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to do what I love.
