We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sabrina Thomas a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sabrina, thanks for joining us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
I started my journey by reaching out to someone already established in the industry and asked for the opportunity to intern. That hands-on experience gave me the foundation I needed to move forward. I created a business name, registered it with the state of Florida, and began working to attract clients.
I used lead generation platforms like Thumbtack, where I started booking clients and quickly earned 5-star reviews. As my confidence and experience grew, I saw an opportunity to expand my services. Again, I turned to industry professionals for guidance and valuable insights that helped me launch new offerings.
Throughout the journey, I remained committed to taking action, not just talking about goals. I continued seeking advice, learning, and growing. With consistency, hard work, and humility, I turned that momentum into a thriving, sustainable business.

Sabrina, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My first career began in the legal field, where I worked as a paralegal for about six years. Eventually, I took a leap of faith and left my job to start my own business as a contract paralegal. That business naturally evolved into a staffing agency, where I began placing paralegals and administrative assistants with small business owners. Six years later, I’m proud to say that agency is still thriving.
My journey into the event industry started in 2018 when I helped a friend plan her wedding—and discovered my passion for event coordination. What began as offering wedding planning and coordination services has since grown into a full-service staffing company. Today, my event-based business provides planning, coordination, bartending, and waitstaff services for all types of events.
At the core of what we do is this: we bring ease to our clients’ lives. We help them save time, energy, and stress so they can fully enjoy their special moments. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate event, or private gathering, our team steps in to ensure everything runs smoothly, allowing our clients to simply show up and celebrate.
Yes, I’m a business owner—but before anything else, I’m a wife and a mother. I understand the pressures of a busy life and what it means to feel overwhelmed. That’s why I’m so passionate about creating seamless, stress-free experiences for others. We take the chaos off your shoulders and turn it into something beautiful.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Around my sixth year working as a paralegal in a law firm, I hit a wall. Despite loving the legal field, I found myself feeling deeply unhappy, unsatisfied, and unfulfilled. I was emotionally drained and experienced two breakdowns within the span of a month. It was a wake-up call. Working a full-time job during the weekdays and running a business during nights and weekends was a lot to maintain.
I realized that while I valued my work, what I truly craved was freedom—freedom to set my own hours, spend more time with my family, and tap into the unique gifts and talents that made me who I am. I wanted to build something of my own, something meaningful that aligned with both my professional strengths and my personal values.
So, I made a bold decision: I left my job and stepped into entrepreneurship full time.
It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
What started as a solo journey in contract paralegal services grew into a successful staffing agency—and from there, opening a second business providing full-service event staffing services. Today, I’m not just running businesses; I’m living a life that’s fulfilling, flexible, and filled with purpose. And now, I get to help others create memorable experiences—whether that’s through providing top-tier event staff or easing the daily operations of business owners through strategic staffing support.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned on this business journey is that fear will always show up—but it doesn’t have to lead.
Building a business is not for the faint of heart. There were moments when fear gripped me—fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of not being enough. But I reached a point in my life where I realized I couldn’t let those fears dictate my future. I had to lay down my guard and unlearn the habit of holding myself back.
It’s still a daily journey, but now I choose to move forward with purpose, even when fear is present. I’m committed to living a life that’s authentic, bold, and aligned with who I truly am.
Because I know what it feels like to be overwhelmed, to doubt yourself, and to wonder if it’s all worth it—and I also know what’s waiting on the other side when you don’t give up.
