We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sabrina Patel. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sabrina below.
Hi Sabrina, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
Recently, I filmed background soundtracks for a Virtual Reality company called Mynd Immersive. They are developing VR content to share with Veterans that can no longer travel so that they can reconnect with past experiences or virtually visit memorials honoring their service. Recording the National Anthem and other songs to share with these veterans is such an honor. I truly believe in playing a peaceful and pure rendition of the Star Spangled Banner that the crowd and audience can sing along with and connect with.

Sabrina, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m an 11 year old violinist who has been studying for 7 years, My passion is playing the National Anthem for audiences across the country, I also train and perform with Songbird Strings in Austin, TX; a Suzuki-based strings group.
When I was 3 years old, I used to watch a TV show called Little Einsteins. There was a little boy on the show who played violin. I fell in love with the instrument and begged my mom for lessons. She finally found someone to take me on right before I turned 4 and now I’ve been playing violin ever since.
I also Tap Dance and recently have been combining the two styles in what I have coined Tapolin. Combining the styles has been quite unique way for me to showcase both of my favorite things!

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to play the National Anthem in all 50 states. So far, I’ve completed 23 states and have confirmed performances in Minnesota, Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland and Connecticut later this year. I love to travel and I’m hoping to reach as many people across the country as possible with my music and rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. I love performing in front of the crowd and my favorite part is when they start to sing along. When I hear them singing, I know I’m playing my best!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part is interacting with the audience after my performance. So many people come up to me sharing their feedback and how my music brought a tear to their eyes, how beautiful it was, and more. Many veterans have come up and really appreciate my performance. Last year, I performed at ALCS Game 5 for the Texas Rangers and Former President George Bush was in the audience. He requested me to come to meet him at his suite which was one of the most amazing experiences of my life! It was such an honor to meet a former President!
