We recently connected with Sabrina M and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sabrina , thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I am a very reserved person. At times I can be social butterfly but, I have my boundaries and limits on what I share. With fashion there are no limits, boundaries, or even rules. You can choose your story, be who or anything you want to be. I knew that I wanted to pursue this industry when I was 20 working my first job at Forever 21. Forever 21 taught me how to be fashionable without breaking the bank. I knew if I could put together a fire outfit with only $30 just imagine If I had $30,000 or my very own couture line. From there that’s when I knew.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Growing up I was a very shy girl. I expressed myself through fashion. After high school I began styling at bebe. I built a clientele but something in me wanted more. In college my friend motivated me to start providing my very own styling services. Every event, party, etc I would style her. This opened doors for me to a even bigger clientele. This lead me to become a stylist at Saks Fifth Avenue. Working at Saks felt like a dream. I was working with Dior, Alice and Olivia, and many other designers with fashion events that were held. After two years I moved to Atlanta to pursue my passion. The move to Atlanta allowed me to network and see things in a different market. Once Covid happened things were really slow. I began doing clothing hauls, how to style outfits, fashion videos and more online which led to partnerships with a lot of companies. Now I’m at a point where I’m able to create content for my fellow fashionistas and get paid doing it. My passions are Fashion and entrepreneurship. I love working for myself and having my creative outlets allows me to do so.

When I moved to Atlanta 3 years ago I started taking my social media more seriously. I only had about 3,000 followers. I began posting my outfits, tagging the companies, and using hashtags everyday for 30 days. This helped me reach my milestone of 10,000 followers. At the time being consistent was the key to growing your following. Now the key to growing your following is Quality and being yourself! People like following those they can relate to. It’s great to follow trends but ask yourself what makes you different from the next person? When creating your content do what you like not because you see someone else thriving off of something. What works for one person may not work for you. Social media is changing everyday so I would recommend on creating Quality content that showcases your personality. They will love you for who you are and support you as well.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
One thing non creatives don’t understand about creatives is how much work actually goes into creating. When I’m outside with my tripod taking pictures it’s more than just taking a picture. I took the time to find the perfect location, finding the outfit to match the location and what story I want to tell in this post all while looking aesthetically pleasing. Editing YouTube and TikTok videos are very time consuming as well. When I’m editing a TikTok video it takes me roughly 30 minutes to a hour. Which does not include the actual time to film everything. When I’m editing a YouTube video that could possibly take 4 hours or more or even days depending on how many breaks I take. Overall my message is just because you don’t fully understand what I’m doing does not mean it is not work. One thing we all can agree on is that creatives don’t have anyone to tell them to do this and do that. We have to find the motivation to get up everyday and create no matter what the outcome will be. For creatives everything we do on social media has been well planned and executed It takes a lot but it is always worth it when you get another partnership, etc.
