Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sabrina DeMonica and Emily Robinson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sabrina, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Hippie Beach Boutique began when two Florida Native friends, Emily & Sabrina, combined their talent for art & crafting to create a hippie, beachy boutique. Emily and Sabrina individually ran their own small businesses. Emily with Reel Native, an ocean inspired collection of fishing gear and handmade home decor from items found in the ocean. Sabrina with Sweet Dreams by Sabrina D., a collection of colorful dream catchers’ and henna. Together, Emily and Sabrina would often work at local events and found that their similar styles work well together so they combined their small business to create Hippie Beach Boutique.
If you’re a hippie at heart and inspired by the ocean, Hippie Beach Boutique is your home away from home. Unique artwork is created every day. Some items include coastal decor, driftwood art, dream catchers, Bohemian wall creations, henna tattoos and much more. Custom orders available upon request, as well as creation classes which include DIY dreamcatcher classes and ornament making.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Meet the Creators
Emily: A wife, mother of 3 and a business owner for their family business, East Coast Water Works, Emily is the modern day Super Woman. You will rarely see her sitting down (unless painting starfish is involved). What started her journey for creating ocean inspired art began when she was shopping for ornaments for her first home with hubby Curtis. She was displeased with the things that were being sold at her local art stores and decided then that she would create her own holiday ornaments. In addition to ornaments, she has collected driftwood from her many visits to local beaches & creates one of a kind pieces based on the driftwood she finds.
Sabrina: A believer in healing dreams, Sabrina uses the process of creating dreamcatchers as a meditative tool. Only allowing positive, healing energy in her thoughts while weaving the center web. This allows only the sweetest dreams and positive healing energy to be delivered to the dreamer. She first learned how to make dream catchers from her sister-in-law, Jessi. She then began making them as gifts for friends & family. She has taught dreamcatcher creation classes and has become a regular vendor at most local craft and art events in South Florida.
She likes her men how she likes her coffee, sliding off her roof as she drives away.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients has been vending at local events and face to face contact. Emily and Sabrina find that speaking to individuals about their products and services help to connect us the locals in our communities. Ranging from areas in Fort Lauderdale all the way up to Jupiter, Florida, we love the social aspect of meeting new people. Social media and marketing new items listed on our website, www.hippiebeachboutique.com, has helped us connect with people on a wider geographical range. We have also found that word of mouth and referrals have been a great source to meeting new clients.

We’d love to hear about you met your business partner.
Emily and Sabrina met in high school in the 90’s. Although they were mostly acquaintances they always had a quiet bond with each other. It wasn’t until 2010 when a drastic change in Sabrina’s life led her back into Emily’s world. Sabrina was in search of new living arrangements when fate had it that Emily’s brother was looking for a roommate. Sabrina moved in with Emily’s brother and their new found friendship began. Emily had just started Reel Native and was hosting small events for local, woman owned businesses. Sabrina, having just created Sweet Dreams by Sabrina D. jumped at the chance to make new friends and share her creativity with them. After a few years of vending separately at local shows, they found that their creations worked beautifully together. Emily’s love for the ocean and her beach inspired decor vibed harmoniously with Sabrina’s hippie inspired dream catchers and art. Sabrina approaches her art in a whimsical way that is free flowing and carefree. While Emily’s approach is geared toward perfection and balance that leads to one of a kind artwork. The relationship is perfectly blended. Sabrina is the yin to Emily’s yang. Anyone who loves the hippie soul and beauty of the beach will find what their looking for at Hippie Beach Boutique.
