We were lucky to catch up with Sabrina Charles recently and have shared our conversation below.

Sabrina, appreciate you joining us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard

Southern Naturals by Bri… Queen Cleaning, & most of Beaufort knows Sugar Baby Cupcakess are all home based small businesses under YuNique Stylz LLC. What makes my business different is I do everything from home, I make all of my products by hand from scratch, I bake anything my customers ask for at reasonable price. I take pride in being a 31 year old multi home based business owner and Sugar Baby Cupcakess has recently recieved an award for Best desserts in Beaufort on Restaurant Guru.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I am a caregiver by trade, I am originally from Maryland, I moved to Beaufort SC in August of 2018. In Maryland I baked and did hair under YuNique Stylz but it wasn’t even close to being a brand. As far as the baking went, I baked anything and everything to help with anger, anxiety and depression. Baking was always so calming and the look on peoples faces when they tasted confections I made was a delight for me. Now I have my own recipes and my customers love love love my desserts. I create my own natural hair products, body products and candles for men, women, and children. Every ingredient is thoroughly researched and carefuly formulated to target the needs of an individual, whether its alopecia or eczema to wanting to sit, light some candles, and meditate. I also offer cleaning services with Queen Cleaning “Making your home sparkle like royalty”! I serve Beaufort Co and surrounding counties. Move-ins/outs, Small offices, Residential, Vacation Homes, Airbnb, I currently have 1 airbnb listing that I clean after every check out, ensuring the next quests come to a nice clean fresh smelling home to enjoy on a mini vacation stay. What sets me apart from others off the top is that I do everything myself, from marketing, promoting, creating and printing my own flyers and business cards. I also help other with labels and such. I am the true definition of “jack of all trades” and I enjoy every single second of helping someone with cleaning, providing products that can bring back confidence in your appearance as well as putting a smile on a kids face on their birthday with a huge cake with their favorite characters on it, or that 90 year old beautiful women who loves sweets. It all brings warmth to my heart knowing i helped someone. I am most proud of the hard work that i continue to put into my businesses and that my customers see it as well. The main thing I want to get out there is that some people have things come up last minute and other business need days in advance to get the job done, unless i have something booked I can make it happen with a phone call away and knowledge of what services someone needs.

Have you ever had to pivot?

I had to pivot my business and life due to the beginning of covid! My job closed down for a while and I was out of work. I decided to start my own business

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.

Yes my side hustle turned into my main focus. I started by baking for family and ventured out to pop up shops and flea markets. I pushed myself to create flyers, my own business cards, creating my own recipes, marketing my own work by posting pictures across multiple platforms.
