We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sabrina Allen a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sabrina, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
My whole life has been risk taking. Throughout my school career, I was a student who had good grades but was lively and outgoing. This eventually led to “behavior issues” from teachers who didn’t understand my boisterous and creative nature. When I decided to go to college, I had no idea how much it would change me. After 3 years, I decided to drop out of college due to the pressure of it all. Throughout my healing journey, I realized that as much as I can be academically successful, I am equally a creative and my passion is to motivate. In 2019, I started my platform “The Journey Journals, LLC.” This is my avenue to help empower women to be their true selves through motivation and transparency. In addition, my goal is to help others grow in their faith when they find themselves in tough situations. In these 4 years, we have launched merch, held a seminar and been featured on podcasts. I’m confident this is the path God has me on and I’m so grateful that my non-traditional path is one of transparency.
Sabrina, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
The Journey Journals,LLC was created for women like myself, who are multi talented and don’t subscribe to labels. For so long as women we have been charged with taking a back seat and covering our traumas. My goal is to put my journey on display, but also help other women build their faith as well as conquering transparency.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Seeing people growing in their faith as well as starting their own personal journey on the path to transparency and healing.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
Non creatives struggle with the fact that as creatives we can be impulsive, one day we might do one thing and a year later we can choose something else. Our nature doesn’t lend to a linear life.
