We recently connected with Sable Snyder Katy Hale and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Sable Snyder thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
We have been local musicians and music educators in the Central KY area for over a decade. We have both worked in several areas of music performance, leadership and instruction independently. We started working together at Georgetown Baptist Church 7 years ago. I (Sable) am the Choir and Traditional Service Song leader and Katy is the Lead Pianist/Organist. We immediately found a deep connection to each other through music and a sort of musical partnership that came easy. In 2023 Katy joined my new business, Sable Snyder Music, as a part-time teacher. In May of 2024, we began sharing studio space and teaching side by side full-time. In February of 2025 we moved to a new location and by May we rebranded as one entity – Moonsong Studio. Our goal in this music studio is to create a safe space for everyone to experience music, no matter your “phase of life.” We offer private piano, voice, guitar and ukulele lessons, group music classes, Music Together with Sable classes, pop-up events and so many other community musical experiences. This is by far our most meaningful project to date, because it has always been our calling to make music accessible to everyone!

Sable Snyder, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Sable and I (Katy) have been active music educators within our community for over 10 years. Within the past couple of years we joined forces to create Moonsong Studio. At Moonsong Studio we provide the following: private piano, guitar, ukulele and voice lessons, group music classes/camps, Music Together with Sable classes, and pop-up events. Our focus on building an inclusive space and community sets us apart from other similar service providers. We are very proud of the community we have built so far and are excited for future opportunities to expand that community!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
We have the privilege of sharing our art form with others, not just by creating music ourselves, but by also being able to help others create their own music. It is incredibly rewarding to watch a student grow and become a passionate musician in their own rite. On top of this, when we get to make communal music with a group of people, we get to watch how music can heal and bring people together across all ages.. It is such beautiful work.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Our mission at Moonsong Studio is “music for any phase of life.” We both have a calling to use music to create community. We like to think that music is a universal language and that it can be a bridge between different ages, cultures, languages and ability levels. Our goal at Moonsong Studio, and in our creative journey, is to use how we run our studio as an example of how we believe the world should be. There is always a place for everyone, everyone is welcome and we are all just walking this journey together, at all different levels and all very differently. When we join together and lend our voices, the song that is created is very powerful.
