We were lucky to catch up with Sabella “Bella” Reyes recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sabella “Bella”, thanks for joining us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
My parents played important roles in shaping my life and career as a music producer. I was primarily raised by my mom, and my dad reentered my life when I was 14 after overcoming a drug addiction. They both supported and empowered me in their own ways, and I’m grateful for their contributions.
My mom had this incredible entrepreneurial spirit that I admired. She provided insights into the workforce, sharing the positives and negatives of working for others. She encouraged me to dream big and showed me how entrepreneurship could be a fulfilling path. Witnessing her navigate the business world inspired me to view the workforce as a stepping stone on my personal entrepreneurial journey.
In contrast, my dad emphasized the importance of discipline, education, and hard work. He had faced challenges in the past but demonstrated resilience and taught me the value of perseverance. He believed that with dedication, I could achieve success in anything I set my mind to.
Although my parents had their differences, they supported and empowered me as best they could. They recognized each other’s strengths in parenting and worked together in their own ways. My mom allowed me to explore my independence and learn from my mistakes, while my dad provided guidance and instilled a strong work ethic within me.
Their support and unique perspectives laid a solid foundation for my journey as a music producer. While our family dynamics may not have been perfect, I am appreciative of the ways they supported and empowered me to pursue my dreams.
All in all, my parents played vital roles in shaping my life and career. My mom’s entrepreneurial spirit and insights into the workforce inspired me to dream big, while my dad’s emphasis on discipline and hard work taught me the value of perseverance. They supported and empowered me as best they could, and I am truly grateful for their contributions to my journey.

“Qualities, Skills and/or Areas of Knowledge:”
Looking back at my journey, there were three game-changers that really made a difference: self-awareness, continuous learning, and building a supportive network. Let me break it down for you in a casual way and share some advice for those starting out.
First things first, self-awareness is key. Take the time to understand yourself inside out. Recognize your strengths, weaknesses, and areas for growth. Journal, reflect, and pay attention to your thoughts and feelings. Seek feedback from trusted mentors and dig deep into who you are. The more you know about yourself, the better equipped you’ll be to tackle imposter syndrome and make choices aligned with your values and goals.
Now, let’s talk about continuous learning. The music industry and therapy field are always evolving, so keeping abreast of the latest trends and techniques is essential. Dive into professional development opportunities, attend workshops, and soak up knowledge from books, articles, and online resources. But here’s an extra tip: don’t forget to study what you love about your favorite songs too! Understanding why certain songs resonate with you can provide valuable insights and inspire your own creative approach.
Last but not least, build a support network. Surround yourself with like-minded people who lift you up. Connect with peers, mentors, and collaborators who share your passions and goals. Attend networking events, join communities, and be open to forming meaningful relationships. Having a solid support network can provide guidance, encouragement, and exciting opportunities for growth.
For all you beginners out there, here’s some laid-back advice: be patient with yourself. Expertise takes time, so embrace the learning process. Celebrate every little victory along the way, and stay committed to your journey. Seek out mentors who can offer wisdom and guidance, and be open to their insights. Don’t be afraid to experiment, try new things, and listen to feedback. Constructive criticism can help you refine your skills and approach.
I believe growth is a journey, so keep pushing forward, maintain a positive mindset, and enjoy every moment. I can’t stress enough how beneficial it can be to just simply dive into learning opportunities, explore what you love about your favorite songs, and connect with others who share your passion. With self-awareness, continuous learning, and a supportive network, you’ll be well on your way to making your mark in the music and therapy world. You’ve got this!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
“What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?”
In the past 12 months, my biggest area of growth and improvement has been in managing my emotional response to making mistakes, especially while being in the spotlight. I have learned to approach these situations in a healthier way. I have surrendered my process to a higher power and focused on my actual goals.
I firmly believe in my heart that I have the potential to be an impactful executive producer, clinical therapist, and life coach. This belief has allowed me to see the mistakes I make along the way as necessary stepping stones toward achieving these goals. I have shifted my perspective and found more value in being properly positioned rather than striving for perfection.
By embracing the understanding that mistakes are a natural part of the journey, I have been able to let go of the fear and self-doubt that often accompany them. Instead, I have embraced a growth mindset, viewing mistakes as opportunities for learning and growth. This shift in mindset has allowed me to approach challenges with more confidence and resilience.
Additionally, surrendering my process to a higher power has brought a sense of peace and trust in the journey. It has allowed me to release the need for control and embrace the belief that everything happens for a reason. By placing my focus on my actual goals and the impact I aspire to make, I have been able to navigate setbacks with greater resilience and determination.
Overall, this growth in managing my emotional response to mistakes has been transformative. It has enabled me to embrace imperfections, see the value in learning from them, and stay focused on the bigger picture. I am excited to continue this journey of growth and improvement, knowing that each step, even the ones that may seem like missteps, is vital in my pursuit of becoming an impactful executive producer, clinical therapist, and life coach. This new process has given me much peace.
