We recently connected with Rylin Rossano and have shared our conversation below.
Rylin , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
My podcast Take Care of Your Body by Ry came to life during one of the most difficult moments of my life. I was leaving a doctor’s appointment, feeling completely overwhelmed. It wasn’t just the weight of the condition I’ve been navigating; it was the emotional toll of trying to advocate for myself in a system that often left me feeling unseen.
As I sat in my car, I felt a surge of frustration, anger, and sadness. I’d spent so much time trying to care for my body, yet I still felt like I was falling short, as if I was constantly fighting a battle I couldn’t win. That moment made me question everything: my strength, my resilience, and even my purpose.
But as the minutes passed, I realized something: I needed to find a way to reclaim my narrative. If my body and my health were going to demand so much of me, I wanted to create something that could give back—not just to me, but to anyone who’s ever felt lost in their own struggles. I wanted to build a platform that reminded people that no matter how hard things get, we can always choose to take care of ourselves, even in the smallest ways.
And that’s how the podcast started. It wasn’t about having all the answers; it was about creating a space where vulnerability could meet strength, where challenges could inspire change, and where every listener could feel seen and supported. “Take Care of Your Body by Ry” became more than a project—it became my way of finding hope and sharing it with others.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Rylin Rossano, but most people know me as Ry. I’ve always been passionate about wellness, creativity, and fostering authentic connections, which has shaped everything I do. I graduated high school at 15 and am now on a journey to becoming a Registered Dietitian, a role I feel aligns perfectly with my love for helping others take care of themselves from the inside out.
A pivotal moment for me was the creation of my podcast, Take Care of Your Body by Ry. This project stemmed from a personal struggle with dysautonomia, a condition that has profoundly shaped my life. After leaving a particularly tough doctor’s appointment, I felt the need to turn my frustration and challenges into something meaningful. The podcast became a space to share my journey, empower others to prioritize their health, and discuss the importance of self-care, especially for those navigating invisible battles. It’s more than a podcast—it’s a community and a mission.
In addition to the podcast, I manage RecipesByRy, where I combine my love for cooking with my passion for health. On this platform, I share gluten-free, healthy recipes and tips that are not only practical but also bring joy to the kitchen. With nearly 2,000 followers, this space has connected me with incredible people who share my enthusiasm for nutritious and delicious food.
What sets me apart is my approachability and authenticity. I believe in meeting people where they are, whether it’s through heartfelt conversations on my podcast, relatable recipes, or simply being a “ball of sunshine” who inspires positivity and kindness. My work is deeply personal, fueled by my own experiences and my desire to make others feel seen, supported, and empowered.
The thing I’m most proud of is the connections I’ve built through my platforms. Whether it’s someone saying my words helped them feel less alone or a follower sharing how they loved one of my recipes, those moments remind me why I started.
For anyone getting to know me or my brand, I want you to feel like you’re not just a follower or listener—you’re part of a community. My goal is to remind you that taking care of yourself is always worth it, no matter how small the steps may feel. Whether it’s through sharing a meal, a story, or a piece of advice, I’m here to inspire and walk with you on your journey.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Living with chronic illness has taught me lessons in resilience that I never expected to learn. With dysautonomia, life can be unpredictable, and there are days when it feels like I’m navigating a constant storm. But through it all, I’ve found strength in the way I face those challenges—choosing to keep going, even when things feel uncertain.
There was a time when I felt overwhelmed by the toll it took on my energy and my sense of normalcy. It was easy to feel defeated, to question how I was supposed to keep pushing forward. But in those moments, I discovered that resilience isn’t about ignoring the hard parts; it’s about allowing yourself to feel them and choosing to move forward anyway. I found it in the small victories: taking time for myself, sharing a moment of laughter with someone I love, or being able to put my heart into creating content that made others smile. Each of these moments was proof that despite the struggles, I am capable of more than I sometimes believe.
Resilience, I realized, is built in the spaces between difficulty and triumph. It’s the courage to show up for yourself when it would be easier to give up. It’s in the willingness to reach out for support when you need it, to find joy in the things that light you up, and to remind yourself that you are not defined by the obstacles in your path. The strength I’ve found isn’t just in enduring; it’s in embracing my journey, imperfections and all, and using what I’ve learned to lift myself and others up along the way.
Every day, I am reminded that even in moments of doubt, I am capable of creating light in the dark and finding hope in the middle of the storm. It’s that quiet, unyielding determination that shows me what resilience truly means.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Absolutely, there is a mission behind my creativity, and it’s rooted in something deeply personal and profound. My creativity is a response to the moments in life where I’ve felt powerless, unheard, or overwhelmed. It’s my way of reclaiming those moments and turning them into something that can inspire, uplift, and connect with others.
Living with dysautonomia has taught me that life doesn’t always unfold the way we plan. There are days when simply getting through feels like a victory. But I’ve also learned that in those moments of struggle, there’s an opportunity to create something meaningful—not just for myself, but for others who might be feeling the same way.
My mission is to remind people that even in our hardest times, there’s still beauty to be found and strength to be shared. Whether it’s through my podcast, Take Care of Your Body by Ry, where I open up about my journey and encourage others to prioritize their health, or through RecipesByRy, where I share meals that nourish both the body and soul, my work is about connection. It’s about saying, “You’re not alone in this,” and offering a sense of hope and community.
What drives me most is the thought that something I create—whether it’s a story, a recipe, or a simple message—could make someone feel seen, understood, or just a little less alone. That mission keeps me going, even on the days when it feels like I have nothing left to give.
My creativity is my way of fighting back against the moments that tried to break me. It’s my way of choosing purpose over pain and using my voice to remind others of their own strength and worth. If I can help even one person feel more empowered, more inspired, or more hopeful, then I know I’m living out my mission.
