We were lucky to catch up with Rylee Rohner recently and have shared our conversation below.

Rylee, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?

my mission as a wedding videographer is deeply rooted in my passion for capturing love stories in a way that feels authentic and true to each couple. every couple has a unique journey, and it’s important to me that their wedding film reflects not only the beauty of their day but the genuine emotions, connections, and moments that make their love special. for me, it’s about more than just documenting events — it’s about telling a story that people will want to relive over and over, long after the day has passed. i aim to create films that couples are proud to show their family, friends, and even their children in the future.

what drives me most is the idea that love is universal, and the emotions captured on a wedding day have the power to touch not only the people who lived it but anyone who watches it. i want my films to evoke real feelings in everyone who sees them, even complete strangers. it brings me so much joy to know that through my work, i can help people feel connected to a couple’s love story in a deeply emotional way.

i’m also obsessed with blending modern and vintage methods to create films that are both fresh and timeless. there’s something magical about capturing a moment on Super 8 film, mixed with the crispness of digital — it allows me to paint love stories in a way that feels both nostalgic and artistic. my goal is always to create a film that is not just visually stunning but also heartfelt and meaningful, something couples will treasure for years and generations to come. this is more than just a job for me; it’s a passion, a calling, and a privilege to be a part of such a special day in people’s lives.

hi! i’m rylee, a wedding videographer and the heart behind films by ry. i’ve been telling love stories through film since 2017, and i couldn’t imagine doing anything else. my journey into this world started with video production and student broadcasting, but the moment i filmed my first wedding, i knew this was my calling. i’ve always been captivated by the power of storytelling, and weddings are such a beautiful way to capture real, raw emotions. now, as a full-time videographer, my mission is to create films that feel true to each couple’s day — the kind of films they’ll cherish forever and want to share with future generations.

i specialize in both Super 8 and digital wedding videography, combining the nostalgic feel of vintage film with the crisp, modern quality of digital. this mix allows me to create something really unique — not just a beautiful video but a true reflection of the couple’s personalities and love story. for me, it’s all about capturing the moments that matter: the quiet looks, the belly laughs, the tear-filled vows. i want my couples to be able to relive their day through a film that feels personal, emotional, and theirs.

what i think sets me apart is how deeply i care about creating something that’s not just pretty but meaningful. i take the time to understand what makes each couple unique and bring that into the way i tell their story. every wedding is different, and i love tailoring my approach to make sure each film reflects the couple in the most authentic way. and it’s not just about the couple — i want anyone who watches their film, whether they were there or not, to feel connected to their love story.

i’m most proud of the way my films make people feel. it’s so rewarding to hear from couples that their film brought them right back to the emotion of their day or that they’ve watched it countless times. i think the real magic is when people who weren’t even at the wedding can watch the film and still feel all the love and joy. that’s when i know i’ve done my job.

the most important thing i want people to know about films by ry is that i’m all about authenticity. i’m here to tell your love story the way it deserves to be told — genuine, heartfelt, and beautifully you. i believe in creating films that last a lifetime, something you’ll watch and feel every emotion from your day all over again.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

instagram, especially reels, has been my biggest source of new clients, and i’ve noticed even more traction since i started showing my face and sharing my real personality in my reels. being more personal and authentic has really helped me connect with couples on a deeper level, and it’s led to more loyal clients who resonate with my style and approach. i think people appreciate getting to know the person behind the camera, and it makes them feel more comfortable reaching out.

in addition to instagram, i’m so grateful for word-of-mouth referrals, especially from social media friends and photographers. those referrals mean so much because they show that others value and trust my work enough to recommend me. i also love creating vendor galleries for florists, planners, and venues to help promote their businesses, and i often get referrals from them as well. these connections have been so important in growing my business, and i truly appreciate the support from this amazing community.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

for me, the most rewarding part of being a creative is finding clients who truly connect with my work, my brand, and the entire creative process. when i meet couples who really understand my vision and trust me to capture their love story in an authentic way, it’s the best feeling in the world. it’s like they get what i’m trying to create, and that mutual understanding just fuels my creativity even more.

there’s something so special about working with clients who appreciate my creative eye and trust me to tell their story without feeling the need to micromanage every detail. that level of trust and connection is the best compliment i could receive. knowing that they see the value in what i do and want me to bring their vision to life is what makes this work so fulfilling.
