We were lucky to catch up with Rylee Gauthier recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Rylee thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
Founded in 2017, but made it official AF in 2018. I (Rylee) created Blissed Out while pregnant with my first daughter. I wanted to encapsulate the euphoric feeling of being pregnant for the first time in the company name. Although pregnancy comes with great challenges, the bath + body products we were making in the kitchen were helping me immensely.
It all started with 5 handmade bath bombs in a rental home kitchen to help me (personally) eliminate stress, pain and nausea. It has ELEVATED into a beautiful product line and now, space to hold others where we have our own boutique, services and head spa room.
We want to spread the feeling of getting ‘blissed out’ and there is no better feeling than the one we have created through our thoughtful products and services.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
At Blissed Out, we believe self-care isn’t just about pampering—it’s about survival. It’s about slowing down in a world that’s constantly telling us to move faster. Whether it’s sinking into the warmth of a bath, experiencing the magic of our head spa room, or discovering something special in our boutique, we’re here to remind you that taking care of yourself is essential. And honestly? When we take better care of ourselves, we show up better for everyone else, too.
This all started with our cannabis sativa seed (hemp)-infused bath and body products. They were created to help 23-year-old, pregnant me find relief from pain and feel bliss without “the high.” I had significantly lowered my cannabis consumption while pregnant and leaned into topicals instead. At the time, I was a fully-booked hairstylist, so naturally, I started sharing the benefits I was experiencing with the products my husband and I had made—and let me tell you, word spread fast. These products became my way of saying, “Here, let me help take some of that weight off your shoulders.”
From there, it snowballed into something much bigger—a warehouse, a boutique, and a service. I always say I had three kids under the age of two because, while I had two humans under two, my third became my business. I’m so proud of the company I’ve built from scratch and the impact it’s had on so many lives.
What makes Blissed Out special is that we’re not just offering products or services; we’re creating little pockets of peace in your day. Whether you’re coming to us for a head spa experience that will leave you floating out the door, or grabbing something from the boutique that you didn’t know you needed (but feel really good about purchasing because its all 100% Canadian made).
What I’m most proud of? It’s hearing how we’ve helped someone, even in the smallest way. Maybe it’s the mom who finally took a moment for herself or the person who walked in with tension and walked out smiling. Those moments mean everything to me because I’ve been there—I know how hard it can be to put yourself first.
Here’s what I want you to know: You deserve to feel good. Not just every once in a while, but every single day. And if Blissed Out can play even a small part in helping you feel lighter, calmer, or more cared for, then we’re doing exactly what we’re meant to do.
At the end of the day, this isn’t just a business for me—it’s my literal heart. So, if you ever need permission to pause, to breathe, to take care of you, consider this it. You’re worth it, and we’ll be here to remind you of that every step of the way.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
It all started with a $100 personal investment and some random ingredients from my pantry. At first, I was just making bath products for myself—little experiments to help me relax and feel better. But those simple beginnings quickly turned into something much bigger.
Word spread fast, and before I knew it, my house was completely taken over. We needed a warehouse to keep up with demand. Then, as more people started coming by to pick up their orders, they wanted to shop in person—so we opened a boutique. Eventually, I quit my “real job” as a hairstylist to pour my heart into this full-time. Over time, I even found a way to bring my hairstyling background into the mix by creating a head spa service using the products we make right in the back of our space.
But let me tell you—it wasn’t easy. Because our key ingredient is cannabis sativa seed oil, multiple banks shut down our business loan inquiries. We had no grants, no loans, and no traditional funding options. This entire business was built with credit cards, creativity, and pure determination—and I’m proud to say we’ve turned it into a 6 figure business with ZERO debt.
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
The answer above, ties both these questions together seamlessly! But it was NOT always easy- Key milestones in my business journey have truly shaped where I am today. One major milestone was launching Blissed Out Bath and Body Line. Seeing my handmade products grow into a self-sustaining business that customers love has been such a rewarding experience. Hiring multiple employees and paying them great wages to support their life has been one of our greatest accomplishments.
Another pivotal moment was opening and running my boutique, which taught me invaluable lessons in leadership and navigating professional challenges. We are currently transitioning out of boutique ownership- this has been a huge milestone as I prepare for the next chapter in my life and career.
Leaving the toxic hair industry and scaling my Head Spa business was another proud achievement. Building a team and seeing this unique concept resonate with clients has been a dream come true. Now, as I prepare to pass the torch, it’s fulfilling to know I’ve set a solid foundation for the future.
Finally, stepping into the astrology world has been a deeply personal milestone for me. From launching my Soul Stamp readings to creating my ebook, it’s been exciting to see this business evolve into something that aligns with my current passions/ideals and allows me to help others.
Each of these milestones represents growth, resilience, and alignment with my vision for a fulfilling, balanced life. I will forever be a creative, innovative, serial entrepreneur and I encourage others to follow their north star and do the same. Thank you for reading my/our story <3
