We were lucky to catch up with Ryan Pettis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ryan, thanks for joining us today. Showing clients you appreciate them is something I think most folks want to do – but it’s not always clear how to do it in a meaningful way. What’s one of the best examples of client appreciation you can share with us?
Ryan Pettis Painting wouldn’t be here without our clients’ support. We are so grateful for everyone who has trusted us with their homes, and we truly try to connect with each one of our clients. We remember every one of you and are forever thankful for you all!
We felt the urge to give back to the local businesses much like our own. We created a giveaway including MANY small businesses in Farmington. We have held two so far and plan to continue doing them! We truly enjoy reading the responses in the comments, and we LOVE the smiles on your faces when you receive the basket of goodies!
This year, our team decided to start the first Ryan Pettis Painting Post-Secondary Scholarship. We had an amazing turnout, and we selected an ambitious young girl with a very promising future. We encouraged our clients to have their kids enter, along with many of the surrounding communities! It was astonishing to see all of the bright, passionate, and determined graduates’ plans for after high school!
We send a handwritten “thank you” note to all of our clients. We appreciate you and we hope we leave a lasting good impression!
While making memories in your home, you may accidentally scuff up a wall or two. Many times, our clients will call us or send us photos of a few blemishes in the paint after a few years. We find ourselves doing some touch up work, and a lot of times, it’s free of charge. We want your paint to last you!
Finally, I have found our business, along with many others helping those in need! Sometimes a parent will post on social media asking for some help buying gifts, yearbooks, shoes, etc. I am always amazed to see how many local businesses reach out to offer a helping hand. It makes me so proud to be part of a community that is so gracious.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started painting with my great-uncle a few years ago. My great-uncle was a retired painter at the time and would do a few paint jobs every once in a while. I would tag along to learn the art of interior/exterior painting, staining, and much more.
Once I felt confident in my skills, I started Ryan Pettis Painting! We help our clients with projects big or small! That could be painting the interior or exterior of the house, fixing a painting mistake made by a client, staining decks or other woodwork, or giving wood furniture a new and fresh look!
We take pride in being a local/small business. You may find that we will build a relationship with you, and we try our absolute best to keep our clients happy. Our attention to detail is unmatched and we are always willing to offer you a helping hand!
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Word of mouth! We love to hear from our clients that they were recommended to us through a past client! Happy clients bring in more business! Thank you to all that have shared your experience with us through a social media post, or have recommended us to a friend!
Social media has brought in a lot of our clients. We like to post images of our work on our social media pages and you can find discounts/special offers there. Our marketer works her magic to make our page look “aesthetically pleasing” as she says!
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
As painters, we are bound to have clients reach out for touch-up work, it’s inevitable. We love reconnecting with you all! We have a list of all of our clients and their numbers, and we try to reach out to them a few months down the line to ask how their paint/stain is holding up! We also send out some “thank-you” notes that I personally write out!
