Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ryan Marthaller. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ryan, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The official music video to my song “Grief” came out on December 4th.
The Grief music video takes you through my personal journey of losing my dad — both metaphorically and realistically. It opens with a real home video of us together before cutting to the same place years later, where it’s just me. That heavy silence becomes the starting point of my story.
As the video unfolds, the seasons change behind me — winter, spring, summer, fall — showing how the world keeps turning even when you feel stuck in the same moment. Grief doesn’t get easier with time; you just learn how to live with it, how to carry it, and how to cope a little better day by day.
The ocean scenes represent the feeling of drowning in loss, but the moments with my dog reveal the other side of grief: the people (and animals) who keep you going. She symbolizes the reminder that as long as you have love in your life, you can step out of the water, take a breath, and try to enjoy the life you’re still living — for both of you. For me, that means living it for my dad and myself.
This video is a tribute to him, and to anyone who’s ever had to navigate the complicated, overwhelming, and deeply human experience of grief. I hope it brings you comfort, connection, and the feeling that you’re not alone.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Ryan Marthaller, and I’m a multidisciplinary artist working across music, acting, and visual storytelling. My creative journey started at a young age, driven by a need to express emotions that I didn’t always have the words for. Over time, that instinct turned into songwriting, performing, and eventually working in film and television. Storytelling has always been at the center of everything I do.
I work primarily as a singer-songwriter and actor, creating emotionally driven pop-rock music and narrative-focused visual projects. My music often explores themes of grief, memory, resilience, family, and personal growth, while my acting work spans theater, film, and television, including roles in projects such as 1923, Dead 7, and upcoming unreleased films. I’m especially drawn to stories that feel honest and human — the kind that make people feel less alone.
What I offer creatively is authentic emotion. Whether it’s a song, a music video, or a performance, my goal is to create work that resonates on a real level. Many people struggle to articulate pain, loss, or vulnerability, and my work aims to give voice to those feelings. I don’t try to sugarcoat emotions — I lean into them, because that’s where connection happens.
What sets me apart is my willingness to be open and emotionally transparent in my art. I’m not afraid to pull from my own life experiences, including loss, healing, and growth, and translate those moments into something others can connect with. I’m deeply hands-on in my creative process, from writing and performing to visual concepts and storytelling, which allows the work to feel cohesive and intentional.
What I’m most proud of is staying true to my voice, even when it would be easier not to. Every project I release feels like a piece of my story, and I take pride in creating art that has meaning beyond entertainment. I want people to know that when they engage with my work, it comes from a genuine place — it’s real, it’s lived-in, and it’s made with care.
At the core of my brand is the belief that art can help people heal, reflect, and feel seen. Whether you’re listening to a song, watching a performance, or following my journey, I want you to know that you’re not alone — and that it’s okay to feel deeply.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Definitely when people reach out and express how my music has helped them or touched them in some way! Music helps me so much, so to hear that my own music has helped people, means the world to me.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is just to make people feel seen. If just 1 of my songs can help a person through a difficult time, then that’s what matters to me. If I have an acting job that people can relate to in anyway, shape, or form.
